I know there are 2 which i'm going to for sure, the
Metroplex 25th Anniversary one and the 'Fuk The Aristocrats'
one with The Flashbulb and Wisp.

Elusive, do you know the schedule for these after parties? I
don't want to stay in Detroit till 6 AM on a Monday wating
for DJ Stingray to play.

Oh and shit, I might goto the DMX Krew show! No artists on
that No Way Back really catch my eye, never even heard of em
before.

it's all detroit locals
it'll be one of the best parties
why fuck around with tourists` shit - no way back is the
only thing you should be concerned with

even that ed dmx show sucks besides him playing

the fact that you don't recog any of those names ... you're
not shy about your lack of detroit background, are you.

so let's see .. go to some tourist shit with big names big
venue, or go to a real detroit party with real locals that
isn't meant to be an invitation to the lowest common
denominator.

well it seems you're more passionate about it than me, so i
understand why it's important to you to get more bang for
your buck, but i'd rather see DMX Krew at least, i think
it's 15 at the door there. I mean i'm not a big enough
techno fan to appreciate even newer local DJs. I just really
don't care that much, i'm going for the sake of having a
good time, though i will keep that show in mind, i mean
they're all relatively close to each other in distance
anyway. And you're right, i know next to nothing about
Detroit Techno, and i really don't feel like i'm missing out
on anything.

it's not a techno party

just never mind; clearly not your class-type. (no
policy-match)

you dont/wont understand the significance of this annual
event.

" to get more bang for

recommending this party, do you

because i'm trying to nudge him to go to probably the best
party all weekend instead of fake tourist crap ... a real
detroit party

and he just doesnt get it / the significance
so leave it at that.

i looked at some videos of the festival from last year and
was off-put by a lot of what i saw actually. the
afterparties is what i wanted to go to (to see dj stingray,
theo parrish), etc. but a lot of that stuff that was in
that stadium or auditorium or whatever looked so stupid. i
am not too critical, pretty open minded, but the atmosphere
in that place looked really shallow. richie hawtin, etc.
like trance/life-affirming stuff, i'd rather see rob hall in
a warehouse

IS this like those 80s package gigs with Heaven 17 and
Culture Club but for twats who bang on about "combat
situations" and "Detroit" because they choose to live in a
toilet because its cheap whilst working "in computers" and
never marrying?

cygnus, your comment is idiotic
no offense,

i judge multi-stage festivals by youtube videos too.

Failure # 2 - They stalled out Stingray all night while
Surgeon completely hacked his shit to death, he made making
bad music seem like an art though. Aaron Atkins was
seemingly gonna save the day but then it was already 3 in
the morning and everyone was dead, and Mr. Stealthy Stingray
was nowhere to be found like Batman, just vanished.

So overall my experience with DEMF Afterparties is - either
i'm bad luck (EDMX's Mixer fuck up, and Stingray's
early exit) or Detroit has just gone to shit. Fuck it all,
waste of money. But i did get to meet them both and they
were really 'in tune' i'd say.

Yeah Elusive i think i should have trusted you from the
beginning about all that lowest common denominator stuff,
the people at the afterparties i went were just not what i
was expecting, whenever i think of music shows, i think of
people going there for the musicians and the music, not for
the dumb fucking shit that everyone indulged in. Though I
didnt dance at all, i just like to soak it all in, it's
funny i paid for nothing on both accounts, i was expecting
the cream of the crop with Ed and Stingray, and they both
didnt play, and i was forced to sit through absolute shitty
loud party music in hopes of hearing the two. Fuck

you missed the 19hour shit show - greatest party ever
(although i only stayed 10am -2pm)

didnt go but heard no way back was as epic dark acid as ever
(as usual / expected) - and was still going into 9-10am this
morning i think...

shame about stingray; doesn't surprise me though. not sure
why no one seems to give that guy the time of day. pisses
me off.
