so the last week i've starting to develop a library which
integrates the ChucK audio programming language into
Processing:

phuck.

what? why? to help support the creation of audiovisual
apps - yes i said it, APPS, i.e. computational
generative music + video. Cause i think this is an area
that's more interesting than rendering mp3's to disk
nowadays innit.

so as Hello World application here's a kind of IDM
fart app:

LAZY_MAC

LAZY_WINDOWS

unzip and launch. (p.s. i hope it works)

I start the program and this appears. Maybe some
missing dll or wrong directory?

hm did you extract all files in the zip? the folder
structure has to be preserved... i see you extracted it to a
folder "a"? could be that it has to be in a folder named
bubbler (though probably not).

in your task manager, are there any processes named
chuck[+some long number]?

you should first get LAZY_THIS, then something like
LAZY_THIS

I tried to rename the folder to bubbler and no luck, there
are no chuck processes in taskbar

It's not an App until it's on the Apple App Store to
download your app.

offline Terence Hill from Germany on 2010-05-25 23:22 [#02381387]

there's no porn on the Apple app store, it must fail
ultimately. it MUST.

so for those who couldn't launch the bubbler on Windows, you
probably need to update your Java JRE.
(though it would be great if before you do, open cmd.exe,
enter the command "java -version" and post the output, this
could help me validate this issue).

This Java thing sucks because it's an extra step for the
Windows user but i'm working on it.

I also likely used a too new version of Java to build the
library itself, so the links in the first post are updated
and hopefully more comatible now generally.

and by comatible i mean compatible,

new version without upgrading java: white box of fail
cmd java - version output:
Java SE RE 1.6.0_17-b04
java hotspot client vm 14.3-b01

after java upgrade: white box of fail

thanks for the feedback, this white box it sucks.

i don't know at all why and how it hangs. Maybe it will help
if you look at what the Event Viewer spits out and print
it here.... . ,

the event viewer doens't record anything new when starting
bubbler.exe

I tried to move the dlls you provided to system32 just in
case but still no luck

Just chiming into say I fucking love Molecular Acid and I'm
using it more and more for performance stuff on my Macbook.

what really? this puts a huge smile on my face :)

like performance in front of people? omg! i didn't think
anyone would be able to use it for anything cause of the
clumsy keyboard interface... i mean it's just a prototype..
And you can't even delete nodes... i'd love to see what
you're doing with it.

this might be enough motivation to make a v2

/ / /

i'll also look into phuck not working on most Windows
machines, meanwhile there's a LAZY_VIDEO

Haha most of what I'm doing with it is for semi-random CCs,
then I can generate new sets by changing the lens distortion
parameters (neatest idea ever btw).

Please please make a v2. Deleting nodes and saving plots
would be awesome.

hey if you have any audio / video of that, let me know!

for v2, i've got a couple of more... molecular.. ideas which
i weren't able to implement because of lack in code skills,
but should be able to pull off by now... so yeah stay
tuned!

better interaction is also a must,
