holy shit... I am Patrick Swanson... how can I prove this?

From: "Patrick Swanson"

01) Would you ever consider taking over the world with your
machines and music and killing off The Backstreet Boys?

the blackstreet boys?

02) Incunabula seems very depressing whenever I listen to
it. Were both of you depressed during the time you make this
incredible album?

thats well funny we haven't heard anyone say that since
before it came out..

03) Casio SK-1 or Casio SK-5? (both are pieces of shit, but
oh well)

no they are good you must see shit when you look at them for
some reason of your own

true... but they acted the same way with everyone else.
unique. that is Ae. would you really have wanted to read the
"real" answer? what is real? is it worth finding an answer
to?

I read almost that WHOLE transcript, of all the questions...
they NEVER gave a straight, decent answer! Bastards! :-)

offline jupitah from Minneapolis (United States) on 2002-04-08 03:01 [#00161719]

no they did. some of em were quite straight.

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-04-08 03:19 [#00161746]

but very few were straight answers though. there were a lot
of serious questions that deserved serious answers that i
wouldve liked to know! oh well, at least they communicated
with some fans...

offline jupitah from Minneapolis (United States) on 2002-04-08 03:25 [#00161762]
Points: 3489 Status: Lurker

yeah, i was frustrated for at first, but they aswered a hell
of a lot of qs eventually so the number of straight answers
was actually pretty decent. the not-so-serious answers give
ya a glimpse in to their brand of humor which is interetsing
to me cause it's fun to learn about the personalities behind
the tunes.

I seriously doubt it was them. How can there be real TRUE
believers? I mean why would they all of a sudden jump on the
MB and start fucking around. Thats stupid.

because... I sent those questions out to some addy that was
"official" given out to the peeps @ warp records.

The thing is, they didn't answer any serious questions. Only
the ones that didnt have any relevance. And the ones that
did did not get good answers. Like, vague, dude, vague.

Or in the news section of www.warprecords.com

And don't start going on about them being assholes. They
really are a bunch of decent guys.

offline jupitah from Minneapolis (United States) on 2002-04-09 01:39 [#00163446]
Points: 3489 Status: Lurker

Anything that has to do with who they are is relevant to
there music because there music is them, and the questions
revealed a lot about their attitude. I'm glad they answered
the questions they did rather than telling us pieces of
equipment or software or methods they used to produce.
Those obvious questions don't tell us anything about the
music.

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2002-04-09 01:46 [#00163449]
Points: 9958 Status: Lurker

But the music and the technology and techniques are so
deeply intertwined with Autechre. They have admited to
putting just as much work into customizing their gear and
rewriting software as they do into the music itself. In
Sean's own words " I am really not that good at music."
Well, thats me kinda paraphrasing.
I still would like to know some of the techniques they use
and the ideas that the music came from. The answers were
like halfway attempts at skirting around the answers that
might have taken more than one sentance to answer.

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2002-04-09 01:47 [#00163450]
Points: 9958 Status: Lurker

Its still cool to get your questions answered. Don't get me
wrong.

offline jupitah from Minneapolis (United States) on 2002-04-09 01:55 [#00163459]
Points: 3489 Status: Lurker

Yeah, it would be nice to know techniques, but for me it's
more important to understand the emotional aspect of the
music. They answered a lot for me about where they are in
the shot answers they gave. How they physically produced
sounds just doesn't matter to me in comparison to what the
sounds convey.
