NO
(at least according to the traditional western definition of god. redefining the word god is just a very confusing way to attempt to demonstrate that he exists)

maybe
maybe the universe was created by chance. though that's hard to imagine. like god
(well maybe it's easier to imagine a god did it. but not when you further think about that. for instance: what created god)

God is the eternal, the uncreated. Being itself. The necessary underlying conditions by which anything else can possible be. You can't compare something which exists (creation or part of it) with the necessary basis for its existence. It's a category error. That's why it's stupid to ask what created God.

This question of what created god comes from The Cosmological Argument for the existence. It states:
Everything that exists has a cause The universe exists and therefore must have a cause That cause is god (a personal conscious creator)
The reason we ask "what created god," is because your argument hinges on the first premise which states that EVERYTHING has a cause. Since the argument follows from this premise, it must follow that this god must have also been caused. That is, if we were to consider god a thing (you said EVERYTHING), then god must have a cause, or your first premise falls apart, and the whole argument falls apart. If god is NOT a thing, then he doesn't exist.
You can't structure an argument that way, it's total nonsense. I've heard so many people say that it's nonsense to ask in response "what created god," because "it's not logical to think of god that way since it wouldn't fit the definition of god." But if you don't seem to realize that when you say that, you're shooting down your first premise, and the argument topples like dominoes.
This isn't even considering the fact that saying god is the cause of the universe is utter ad hoc reasoning. I can say a magical unicorn was the cause of the universe and it would be just as valid.

hypothesis:
Let's say the wisest man in the known universe has written down the total knowledge of every theological issue in a few lines on a piece of paper. Every man and woman who reads this paper are completely enlightened in every aspect concerning God. For the sake of hypothesis we may choose if the paper ultimately proves whether or not God exists. Let's say the paper does. Everybody is content and happy with the fact that God does exist, after all.
But so what then, if He actually doesn't exist? Infact there's never been a God to not exist, either! The reason as to "How?" and "Why?" He doesn't exist, isn't relevant, since this is just a hypothesis. It merely shows us that we are ultimately only concerned with a piece of paper, an idea. We may prove or disprove the idea (of God), we may fill our books about it (or a simple piece of paper), but then what?
God's existence or non-existence is a pink elephant.

I certainly would not be happy if the fundamentalist Christian god existed, AphexAcid. That would mean, essentially, that 90% of the human race is burning in hell for eternity.
You do have a point to make, though. God is an idea. God is a concept, an idea, put fourth as a means to fill the gaps of our knowledge of the universe. It's always been that way. But if I try to think about what caused the big bang, and I imagine the singularity in which the big bang emerged from is all things that has ever existed and ever will exist wrapped up in zero space and zero time and is nothing but the energy of pure love, since this singularity is where all things are bound as one--even that is just an idea. I can entertain the idea to myself because I like the idea and I find it to be beautiful, I wouldn't claim to other people that it's absolutely true.

I don't think it really matters whether or not god exists.
If you live your life as a good person, and god exists, then I am sure it will appreciate it in the end, doesn't matter how much time you spend worshiping it. If god doesn't exist, then other humans will appreciate it.
