and puts it on youtube then hollywood rang him down after
almost 5 million views.it costed him 300 dollars to make it.
afterwards he signed up with Sam Raimi, the director of the
3 Spiderman movies, Evil Dead etc. and his Ghost House
Productions. The guy was like "I loved what you did
with 300 dollars, let's see what you can do with 30
million". Federico will shoot the Hollywood movie next year
in Uruguay and Argentina, and it's gonna be in theaters in
2012.

Thanks to enjoying access to most of the major global news
outlets, I and many others were privileged enough to hear
about this when it was still actually news.

Didn't this BULLSHIT appear suspiciously close to the minute
YouTube said they're thinking about charging? Hey young
directors hellbent on making films identical to shit
Hollywood blockbusters, but cheaper. Pay to whore your
questionable talent online and we could all win (everyone
other than film lovers)

I'm really under-impressed. While that took a lot of skilled
work, it was all in really bad taste; the robots design was
stupid and the editing was really lame. Can't wait for
everyone to start retarding on me.

I'm not sure how throwing a ton of money at him is going to
improve the quality of his advert-like films.

I've made a better film about robots and shit and if I'd
had $300 to make it I'd have used the money to buy a
Playstation or alcohol or something.

A far superior film, and a chick with a musket!

You know I saw this a couple of weeks ago and could not
figure out why people thought it was so amazing?

The fact that it cost him 300 to produce is a bit misleading
and isnt unreasonable. There were no sets, it was lit
naturally and the main characters were cgi, so there were no
costs.

While the cgi was pretty cool (not great) I cant imagine
that Hollywood would give this guy based on his storytelling
abilities, that short film had no story whatsoever.

Ah, but Hollywood don't need storytellers, they have
scriptwriters for that. They only need vaguely competent
goons who won't ask too many questions.

The only novel thing about that clip is that it has
Montevideo as the backdrop and not New York or Washington
(it couldn't happen in London as you'd be arrested for
committing "hostile reconnaissance"). I look forward to the
$300 billion remake set in New York or Washington.

how about robots blasting humans for being so stupid?
Blasting them for not building solar deserts to ween
themselves off oil? Or for not feeding the starving
millions. ? at least have some f%=ing meaning !!

How about you blasting yourself into the sun to raise money
for turtle retirement homes?

well the best thing is that it cost that little and that
he's not a professional, you can't really use that
arguments

it did still look pretty good. also it's nice it didn't last
hollywood length. :)

well there was not real story in there. just robots blowing
stuff up.

but in terms of art direction, the shots, editing,
framing,....
there is definitly potential in there. (in the guy, not the
movie)

I dunno what you're all complaining about, cuz this shit is
impressive. Robots coming and blowing shit up sounds like
no story, but that's sort of the whole point. It works very
well in a short short short film context, but yes, it would
suck for 2 hours straight.

When kamikaze pilots were about to crash into Pearl Harbor,
you think the sailors requested going from 16:9 to 2.39:1,
to get a wider shot of the menacing Japanese planes?

During September 11, who the fuck within 100 feet of that
was immediately requesting a plot? They just ran and
screamed and cried, cuz nobody knew what was going on.

That's the point of this short film. It's terror, with no
explanation. Obviously the robots want everyone dead, so
that is their explanation.

Just crazy ass robots saying FUCK YOU DIE, and then doing
it.

Robots came to kill everybody-- told in 5 minutes. Pretty
solid. It's a tragedy story, and no one but the unknown
enemy wins.

However, had I done it, I'd probably have concentrated a bit
more on the human sadness, fear, pain, etc. Like I would've
had a bunch of babies and old people and handicapped people
get knocked over and blown up, to show that nobody is safe
from the ultimate robot destructors.

Shit melodramatic music, awful CGI, no real actors, cliché
plot, guess this is a blockbuster in the making.

Your problem is you NEED films like this more than you're
needed. You couldn't be pompous and 'subversive' without
crap films. 8 )
