Didn't the trailers look horrible enough to deter you?

they did actually but i had to go out somewhere with my
classmates before they completely mark me as "asocial"

still - there have been a lot of catastrophe-movies before
and even emerich had a few good ones on his account so i was
actually expecting a solid action movie with a lot of cgi
and exploding shit. and the plot was ideal for that.

the problem is that the movie was just utterly absurd and
i'm curious if this is the new "hollywood" and they simply
forgot how to make decent movies.

the actor-play was abysmal, it had a lot of absurdely funny
scenes in the evil-dead-absurd way just to try to be
dramatic a second after. the cgi itself was also weak as
hell.

she might enjoy it still. the cinema was packed and a few
people seemed to like it.

oh and you will have a great laugh.

I went to more awful movies living with my best friend than
I have the entire rest of my life, so I know what it's like
to get roped into going to a shitty movie. I think you're
pretty much correct when you say Hollywood has forgotten how
to make good movies. Obviously there are a few good flicks
every couple of years but by and large, movies aren't worth
the price of admission these days. I'm confused as to how
it's possible for CGI to actually be getting worse
over the years. I know it's more expensive but I wish more
studios would go the extra mile and return to using
animatronics and puppets, maybe with CG post-processing or
something. CGI can be used to stunning effect, it
just almost never is.

you know but i got the feeling that a few years ago i was
going to the movies with my dad quite often and we were
seeing very average movies but i mean still watchable.

the thing that disturbs me the most is the fact that the
average quality of movies seem to be getting worse. plots
are different, some like it some don't so those haven't
changed.

but when you see 2012 you simply have the feeling of
watching a really cheap movie. the scenes, if not completely
rendered, tend to be closeups on faces or very closed space
giving you the impression of watching a brazilian
telenovela. i could even imagine that besides on pc's they
made the whole movie inside some small studio and maybe one
outside location.

that's the absolutely worst part !

NO IT DOES NOT

apparently a few tousand people get on those "arks" and they
discover (i would really want to know how) that the african
continent has raised a few tousand meters and there might be
dry land...

Special Effects: The Movie

What I find funny is people go to see this movie and it's
like, then tell people how rubbish it was, erm... surely you
knew this before hand?
