Ok, I'm curious... how would you rate these three groups...
they seem to be the most popular, plus squarpusher, I
haven't much by him... so yeah, try and put em in order from
best to least best...

for me it's
Autechre
Boards of Canada
Aphex Twin

don't get me wrong, I love Aphex Twin, but Autechre are so
damn exciting, and BoC make such gorgeous music...

i think Boards of Canada are HIGHLY over rated, i dont think
they are anywhere near as talented as RDJ.

I still like BoC, just not as much as a lot of other
artists.

As of right now, it's...
Autechre
Aphex Twin
Squarepusher
Boards of Canada
Mu-Ziq
in that order. But overall, I think Aphex is my all time
favorite ''IDM'' artist.

I have not listened to hardly any Squarepusher...
Squarepusher theme, Port Rhombus, and the first track from
Music is Rotted I believe... they were nice, but nothing
that got me excited about... nothing that would get me to
buy one of his albums...

BOC have a real conviction for 'their sound' it's honest and
moving. MHTRTC and Geogaddi are really brilliant, there
isn't any 'I write my own software/look how many genres I
can cover etc on these albums.

Aphex is restless and spawns different things with his 'take
a genre to the extreme'

Ae are up their own arses but do it really well!

I love most of all these artists, they're are quite
different to compare directly though.

i've heard some tracks off go plastic and feed me weird
things and they're really good. try downloading some from
those two albums.

i'll definately be purchasing some of his albums in the
future (when i can afford to!)

Funkmaster: You must hear Iambic 5 Poetry, it is one of the
most beautiful pieces of electronic music I've heard

Funkmaster, you now seem less funky to me. Not too into
Squarepusher? That is foolish!!! It's foolish!!! You're
being foolish!

about Port Rhombus... anyways, I'll give it a try, thanks...

when it comes to rating... bah...

If you like it, you like it.

But...

I would only say that Aphex Twin has remained # 01 as of the
first day I heard his music... 09 years ago :)

Squarepusher I love, but not enough songs out that I love,

Autechre I love, same reason.

BoC is well made music, but only that - and doesn't get me
intense.

aFX on the other hand, has it all.

A WIIDE variety that is for the most part, all
infuckingcredilbe.

So,

Afx
Aute
BoC

Mostly determined by the variety, complexity, and amount
they have out.
