the woods, post rainfall. you don't really need anything
more specific than that.

mushroom foraging is great, but be sure to have a guide
(pocket or person) to ID the shrooms. usually we didn't end
up eating what we picked anyway, but a skillet, butter, and
a bit of salt is all you need for wild mushies.

thanks for the advice. I actually picked loads this time
last year from a really good spot, but have since moved
away. I'm not sure the particular variety I'm after grows in
woodland though

Watch out for Fly Agaric in particular. Some kids have
died eating it raw, apparently. You're not a kid are you?
Good, don't worry, then. :)

your late down south man! up in scotland i been harvesting
since mid-late august! dont know any spots down in london
but if you head over to devon on a mega bus and get to Hay
torr (check spelling) near Bovey Tracy or any where ovcer
dartmoor picking should be rife.

yeah its gutting living in a city. I used to live in surrey
and one park I know was absolutely rife, probably got about
500g last year. think I'm going to have to go the grow-kit
route. haven't got the time and money to be mega-bussing off
to Devon, much as I'd love to.
with regards to Fly Agaric you do have to be careful. you
can eat them if you dry them out but it will make you feel
pretty sick. the trip is different to a psilocybin
mushroom-trip as well.
luckily in Britain, as far as I know, there are only two
deadly-poisonous types of mushroom and neither of them look
remotely similar to liberty caps.
whenever picking though, it always pays to remember the old
adage: "its better to sort your collection in the field
than in the hospital"
