who would like to join in with me.
purchase one loaf of bread on a friday night and make some sandwiches using cheap cheese
on saturday if you are going into town take the sandwiches in a back pack or other bag with you
every time you pass a homeless person give him a sandwich
calculations
number of slices in loaf = 40
sandwiches per loaf = 20
members on board = 672
sandwiches per week = 13440
homeless people fed per year = 698,880

Not wanting to sound cynical, but most homeless people in my area would prefer a beer or scotch. And they're mostly homeless because they're:
a) insane, so they keep running from the institutions that try to help'em (I know, I know, but they at least feed them there)
b) lazy and don't want to work (which is fine by me but I don't feel obliged to feed them)
Anyway, yours is a noble idea and there ARE people who would be thankful for such a help.

homeless don't even belong to working class as they reject to work. Which is again fine, but why should we feed them.
But there are sick, unfortunate people who only need some help and WT's idea, if a bit naive is noble at heart.

I'd imagine it would be very difficult to get back into work, as you'll need a bank account to get a job, and a job to get a bank account. Should make the fucking effort though...
A lot of homeless people I see do seem very mentally unstable - I often wonder if they are deliberately trying to look totally fucked up. I work at a bar 4 nights a week (www.buffalojoes.co.uk - lol) and see tons of homeless people on my way there. Every one of them will ask for money, and I'll politely apologise for not giving any to them any. Sometimes, after saying 'sorry' (why should I be apologising?) to 6 or so homeless people, I just shake my head at any more. After doing this to one guy he gets mad at me, swearing at me etc, so I think 'what the fuck is this? Fuck you? Why should I feel obliged to give you money? Why are you making me feel guilty?' Makes me sooo fucking angry.
I should say '20p isn't going change your fucking life, mate. Only you can.' But instead I walk on, grumbling angrily to myself....

I was waiting outside Nottingham train station for some others to arrive and was giving leaflets about a demo against the war in London. This guy selling the Big Issue came up and started moaning that I was distracting people from buying his magazine. What a cunt!
I told him in no uncertain terms to remove himself from my vicinity as he was a scar on the face of my country.

Nietzsche said something like "Beggars should not exist at all: if you give them something you feel guilty, if you don't again you feel guilty"
But most homeless people I know actually made a choice to live that way. Not all, but most. It is another thing that most of them don't have what we'd call "right mind" but choice is choice to me. I respect free will of people we deem insane.

Lol. I always think of great responses, then bottle out and say 'Sorry mate, I've got no change.'
"Beggars should not exist at all: if you give them something you feel guilty, if you don't again you feel guilty" - Damn right. You can't win, you just feel harassed walking down the street.
"I respect free will of people we deem insane." Same here, until they bug me for money and then insult me when I decline.

There are loads of homeless people in Nottingham. you can't walk five yards without being asked for change. I sometimes give but I can't give to everyone as I'd be out of pocket of about a tenner a week. I work in the city centre and so get asked everyday.
If I gave to everyone I wouldn't be able to have caviar for tea everyday now would I?

The Queen Mother had 50 servants.
I bet you I am busier than she was, I have no servants.
I suppose I do not wear hats, legend has it that is takes 50 people to place the hat on each of the royal families heads. The reason for this is that each royal family member has legs made from steel (this is one defect due to the inbreeding). Therefore they are able to wear hats made from very heavy material. To keep thier friends in high places (the osmand family) happy, they wear hats made from Osmium. Osmium being the heaviest of the elements, named Osmium as it was first found inside Donny Osmand's kidney when he was rushed to hospital as a child. They now have little Donny strapped to a chair inside a volcano, with pipes extracting the Osmium from his kidneys.

Yeah, I'm still making music (not that anyone would know, looking at my website until recently.)
I'm making an album for Surgery Records, hopefully for release in the summer. I'm also contributing a couple of tracks to Toytronic's next comp, which is cool, but I don't know anything about this release yet. It's a bit hush hush.
My CPU cooler's made from Osmium, as it has very good heat conductivity. Expensive though, although I hear prices should come down with the imminent opening of The European Donny Osmond Cloning Facility.

hey meho- do you know how hard it is for homeless people to get a job?!
Once your there its hard, very fuckin hard to get back into normal society, getting a job and such. Most homeless people become homeless when they are children. Without an education its nearly impossible for them to get a job, so please stop talking out of your ass.

To clear up a few common misconceptions about the homeless:
- "All homeless are insane/mentally unstable" - not true. many aren't. Drug abuse is the most likely reason people think this.
- "All homeless refuse to work" - not true. Many attempt to get jobs but are turned away because of a lack of personal information - it's hard to get a job when you don't have a home address or , like Chris said, a bank account.
-"All homeless are unemployed" - not true, many are employed at minimum wage jobs, but don't make enough money to pay for food, rent, and other expenses. A lack of education, experience, and job skills causes this problem.
- "They should go to shelters" - Shelters are nice, but are also comptetive. People don't realize that there are often requirements to stay in shelters. Some homeless people are turned away because it's discovered by the management that there is a long lost aunt (or some other family member) with whom they could theoretically stay, even if that is impossible for family/social reasons.
just some things to think about.

Jonesy, I thought homeless people were just archetypal working class communists, living off other people's work. ;)
