this may have been funny 20 years ago, when australia was still overtly racist. but today it still shows the lingering covert racism that underpins white australian culture. all too often you hear this attitude towards indigenous people: 'no matter how much we give to them, they always throw it back at us'. my partner has just flown out to laverton, an isolated aboriginal community and mining town, for her nursing work experience. she called me last night, and described how she found it hard to relate to the people, because urban cultures and attitudes had in effect separated her from a whole section of the population. in truth, the indigenous people she has met are no different from anyone else - we're all just trying to get by, but some of us have a lot harder time at it. so that really highlights the sort of problem we have here. perhaps im a bit of a self-hating westerner, but for me, this western sense of entitlement to first-world privlieges will not place someone first in line when another person is willing to work a lot harder for a good life. i expect to see white australians outbred in the non-too-distant future. |

What has the title of the thread have to do with the actual clip? Seriously what people accuse of racism these days is ridiculous. They were dressed as the Jackson 5 who where a black group. Nothing in that clip is racist, they weren't inciting hatred to blacks, I'm sure if you look hard enough you'll find racism and discrimination in everything.
