MetallicaDude, this thread was about how spoiled teenagers who don't want to fit in with the group of kids on their block label themselves as having a syndrome called "Asperger's".
Some fuckin time waster named Hans Asperger thought he would elaborate on the Autistic Spectrum.
If you ar one step short of cerebral palsy, or have some congenital brain defect, you're going to have autistic, but you're not autistic if you're Jan Brady.
End USA rant.

Some one very close to me has been diagnosed by doctors as having Asperger's Syndrome and he is far less of a whiny fuck than you are. In fact he has never moaned about his lot, worked all his life, wouldn't know what a goth or emo was, and it would never occur to him in a million years go on Internet messageboards or even think about "specialness". On one hand he's on another level, on the other he's more grounded than a lot of people.
I agree that people that self diagnose themselves with something because they're a bit awkward are, by their own tacit admission, twats, and I also think doctors aren't very good with mental issues and are as lkely to say you've got Asperger's just to get you out of their fucking practice. Anyone who calls themselves an "Aspy" is self aware enough to warrant a fucking kicking.

Interesting that you used the word spectrum, pulseclock. In psychiatry the term spectrum is used to mean not of a unitary nature but consisting of sub-groups.The naming of a lesser or greater part of spectra is a practice that helps categorise illnesses, and the word syndrome is used to tell us there are clinically identifiable symptoms of an illness.

I never claimed to be an Asperger sufferer, i was just watching a canadian documentary on the subject and noticed how vastly different it was from full blown Autism, yet people who claim to have asperger's syndrome think that they are in the same boat as people with autism.
I'm sure there's thousands of special cases where Asperger's fits the bill, but in most pediatric cases, it's just not right. It's most likely a mis-diagnosed form of adolescent developmental disorder, in my opinion. (not professional of course)
medical pages on wikipedia, where? Urban Dicitionary, i linked there because of the comedic descriptions users made for the Asperger Syndrome.

Put it this way, if you met someone with genuine Asperger's, or a high functioning degree of Autism, and put them next to a moody fucking Goth teenager, you would see the difference instantly.

the whole theory of Asperger's Syndrome is that most of these people diagnosed can't just fit right into "society,". But really, isn't society just a theory itself?
It's basicaly a syndrome for people who don't think they are "normal."
But, in some cases, it may be accurate, like when a child or adult has a particular obsessive interest in arcane subjects, to the point where it conflicts with the quality of life. But just because a child is "different"?
All in all, I APOLOGIZE for bringing this topic up here. not appropriate i agree, but i thought that people always assume RDJ as having this syndrome, as well as other electronic artists who are well into their own work.

you can be ill and not necessarily be cathatonic. I don't know in USA but where I live posing as ill scares people away, so there's not much benefit in posing, you could instead make you relatives and friends more apprehensive than they already are that is a bad thing anyways

and fuck you, i realize that whining on a messageboard is really pathetic, but this is the only messageboard i goto. It's been a great thing to retreat to when you have nothing else to do in between busy schedules.
It's not like me joining this board was a 'one day i stopped smoking cigarettes and i needed another 'fuck my life' fix, so i decided to search on google the next best thing', type of thing. It was more of me lurking here for about 2 months before joining because i loved what music i was hearing from aphex twin and autechre.
Just having to explain myself to you is bad enough. Maybe this will satisfy your hunger to put random people over the internet in their place.

How about stop trying to look cool, and instead post in your Max/MSP thread.

i was diagnosed with aspergers by the top authoity on aspergers in my region and i have my doubts about it but i dont think people who havent been diagnosed should criticise it cuz everyone really has no idea what its like to be anyone but themselves. i dunno its complex and it manifests itself in different ways depending on other aspects of a persons personality. for example i think many aspergers are extroverts and will talk at you for hours about anime or synths or whatever but irl im an introvert and its hard for me to even get the courage to pick up the phone if its someone i dont know calling

mental disorder diagnosis is difficult thing. So there is large posibility of false diagnosis. False diagnosis means wrong treatment.
SPECT scan can reaveal true problems. Conversely analysis of idividual behavior can be illusory.
