I think Sheffield knows far more than me, I actually know nothing at all, it's all bluff. I can't play Pool to save my life and one of the rare occassions I did play, when I was at (where else?) Art School, I played this woman who was SHIT HOT (at pool, she might have been in a more broader sense SHIT HOT but she always wore a boiler suit / overall, like sculpture students do (thinking about it she was pretty HOT and the fact she beat my arse at pool made me HOT for her)). I failed miserably but I kept up this nonchalent charade, and at the end she said that I should have won. Thinking about it now, she was clearly just being polite, and if I'd not been such a witless wonder and I'd asked what was under that boiler suit I might have come within a country mile of finding out. It's the same with electronic music, if you pitch your references later than the obvious (Kraftwerk) and hedge your bets between Art of Noise, Detroit Techno, lesser known New Wave acts and up to early Warp, you'll be fine. |
