The anticipation, among completists and the anally
retentive at least, continues to build...

I went to London about a month ago and there was "Warp20
(Classics²)", double disc sets of albums you already own.

Just got mail. I'm already regreting the fact that I've
ordered this thing. I hope it will be sold on ebay for a lot
more in a year or so..Otherwise I've just bought a shit load
of crap I'll probably will not listen to more then once. But
hopefully the book contains a lot of crappy pictures and
half funny stories about how the lable started back in the
late eighties with a couple of dope heads swinging dicso
style on the dance floor.

Thank you for ordering your copy of the Warp20 (Box Set).

We just thought we would get in touch to let you know that
we are nearing the shipping date and you can expect your box
set to arrive in the next few week. Also if ordered using a
debit/credit card we will be debiting your card in the next
few days.

I just am not happy with the selection of the best warp
tracks.
Sure there are a few good ones there but it coulda been
waaaay more epic considering the warp catalogue.

roygbiv is far too obvious and boring to be the best boc
track

Yeah, they are pumping out masses of them. It's not like
the Quaristice double CD. I _wish_ I'd bought more than just
the one copy of that (and I'd actually want to keep at least
one copy 'cos it's decent). Let's hope Warp20 surprises me.

ive never seen such asscrack licking status since the last
pink floyd 13 cd faux vinyl cover ebay rubbish. nobody wants
this. its a pike of wank, enjoy jerking off cause as with
anything that is designed to "not be opened" your futile
aesthetic greedy eyes will end up burning and make you
blind.

in slightly less words, if u buy this yr a fucking prick and
everyone at warp is pissing themselves laughing.

but its warp so u have to buy it cause theyve done so much
great music for the past 4 yrs and totally not sold out and
not signed wankers that went against their principles.

It's like when a founding member of a band dies, and they
carry on making music under the same name, only it's
terrible music.

no, almost everyone on this messageboard has
said that they regret buying it.

i don't regret buying it. i wish the unreleased tracks were
exclusive to this set, but i don't regret buying it.

also the people on this board are not the sole target market
for this. so that's a generalising statement.

Sorry for the hyperbole. But I think you can agree that this
set could have missed the "Chosen" discs?

quite clearly its a desperate bite to claw back the fans of
old. and not in a good way at all. in fact its embarrasing.
no, its disgusting.

offline oscillik from the fires of orc on 2009-09-04 07:10 [#02322566]
Points: 7746 Status: Regular | Followup to Descent: #02322409

i think they definitely could've done without the "publicly
chosen" tracks, since it was blatantly obvious that we'd end
up with blatantly obvious tracks.

so this "desperate claw back at the fans" just happens to
coincide with the 20th anniversary of the label?

how convenient for Warp.

no, this is just a commemorative product, much like the
Warp10 stuff.

obviously they can't showcase old-school material because
they already did that with Warp10, so they took a different
approach this time round.

if you don't like what they've done, that's fine. you've
made your reservations clear about it already. but don't
continually lambaste those who have bought it.

It's not disgusting, it's a little box of joy...it's not
necessarily designed for people with such discerning taste
as us...imagine someone who only discovered Warp last year
for example...it'd be pretty revelatory for them I'd
think...it's got all the artwork, it's got unreleased stuff,
it's got (Recreated) for people like us...it's got stuff for
people who mix...it's just pretty darn great really...

And I think the price of 85 quid is pretty reasonable
really...if you can't afford it, don't buy it!
