Acid is a dying trend

Funny. Dubstep and Acid really aren't that different from
eachother. Slightly different culture. Each genre takes the
same kind of sound and beats it like a dead horse. Both are
old styles that have been remodeled and/or evolved.

Don't know why people are so critical about dubstep here,
and not as much so about acid. Personally I find dubstep to
be a lot more interesting; its more spacious and ambient,
and a lot darker, much like some of the minimal tech
house that was coming out in the late nineties early zeroes.

ceephax inspired acid is not a trend
it's been going on for 10 years
there's no going back now
acid is for life

Acid has been going strong for some time now, the only part
about about it is when the use the word "acid" in the title.
Like: "Going for a walk with granny in the park acid".

As for of dubstep as it seemed to just explode with a ton of
new (so called) musicians doing the same formula. HOWEVER,
there is excellent dubstep, but trends stagnate and the real
innovators will still continue on... or at least whoever the
labels propup... hahahah.

are trends important?
Does being popular make music sound better?
Question 3?

Hey, acid never died. It struck Chicago dance floors hard in
the mid 80's. The beat has been heard ever since, evolved on
different scenes around the world: the Midwest movement,
Madchester rave, Colone, German rave, UK acid, the Hague
sound, IDM, Nordic rave, the Melbourne sound, A&D. Since
Ceephax-Analord we experience a renaissance. But acid never
stopped pulsating the underground.

Please distinguish between sounds you don't like (for me:
dubstep) and sounds without value per se (which they now
might be).

trends can help bring more awareness to a particular type of
subgenre, but overtake said genre shortly with a massive
amount of copycat, unoriginal pieces of garbage that will
mean nothing over time.

even the worst acid is a thousand times better than 2001
autechre copies
the a&d revolution worked perfectly

Acid as been a fad for over a decade, Squarepusher in my
opinion was the true reinventor of acid in the 90's.

Quaristice is like the only dude who really has a point in
this thread. I like acid. I like dubstep. I could really
give a fuck what anyone else thinks is cool or a fad.

Listen; and enjoy; if not, move on.

Some people just pretend to be a book of facts and think
that we care. I have never considered such people true
listeners.

Who are to be considered "true listeners"? Xltronic has
strong but hollow elitist tendencies.

inoffensive middle-of-the-road music to smoke on our big
middle class bongs to.
