I saw alva noto live two days ago.
I never liked the bleep blop blap stuff of him (unitxt and the likes). I thought it sounded stupid.

But on a big system that stuff sounds like one of the sickest things I 've ever heard. very intense.

I just might have to buy unitxt. I already onw xerrox one and two which I like allot.

so you did hear unitxt live yes ? because i saw him last year playing both unitxt and xerrox 2. the xerrox stuff was quite boring in fact, but the unitxt blew my mind.

he was playing it horribly loud so that those high-energy peaks got really intense. you could see light coming out of the bass-reflex shafts from the speakers indicating that the overload-bulbs are at the limit.

in fact seeing him live then and seeing frank bretschneider 2 times and seeing coh live i'm coming to the conclusion that raster-noton should not release cd's but only play at gigs.

I can imagine xerrox not be really good live.
but yeah unitxt live is insane.
I listend to some mp3's of unitxt and it really lacks the power it
has live. I miss the kickdrums pounding in my chest.

lsiten to frank bretschneiders "rhythm". exactly the same thing - it's absolutely insane live withe the tracks having cut out almot all the midle range frequencies - also with his visuals it looks stunning.

  LAZY_epilepsy
most of the time i was looking at the floor because those visuals where so headfucking i thought i might puke.

in fact frank told me that when they make whole "raster-noton" nights they write an "epilepsy-warning" on the flyer :>

xerrox was boring for me personally because musically it was nearly identical with the album (which i like a lot btw) and the visuals where in fact some trickery with reaktor5 - not very entertaining

as i said - listening to any of those at home doesn't make sense for me now after seeing few of them live.

oh but please when you listen to raster-noton music please download flacs... mp3 kills 2/3 of those tracks

i agree, electronic music played on huge speakers is a different kind of music

isn't this supposed to be working with every kind of music ;)

for me personally it's just raster-noton. those short "peaky" sounds are just so powerful on a big soundsystem. besides that ? a good sounding ambient concert maybe also but that's about it i think.

nhk would be quite awesome on a big system, i expect. not sure my ears could take xerrox or unitxt at huge levels though. more of a headphone exclusive thing for me, personally.

ryoji ikeda test patterns live would be devastating. although you would probably loose your ability to hear

i don't think so, an amy winehouse song does not sound that different played on big speakers. be it intentional or not, it seems to me that most experimental music, or pseudo noise if you want is conceived more as a body experience than as a theme for the ear candy
