I only know Mouse on Mars and they sound really good, and
something by Oval...for the rest I know of the existance To
rococo rot and funkstorung(his remixes for bjork), nothing
about barbara morgenstern ( a part from her name),
Tarwater,Pole(is he german?!)...anyone is a fan of the
german scene?

Pole is extremely good glitch/dub, highly recommended if you
dig autechre in their looser moments. Oval are more or less
inventors of glitch in the form we know it today (their 1994
album Systemisch being a founding record...). Funkstorung
are deadringers for Autechre, except that they have MC's on
top in some of the songs on their only album Appetite for
distruction. Barbara Morgenstern is a singer who sings over
Pole's music (I mean, he did the musiv for her album and she
sang). To rococco rot are a mix of electronica and post
rock, as well as tarwater and you could also check out
microstoria, a colaboration of Jan St Werner from MoM and
this guy Markus from Oval.

anyone like any old german stuff like Tangerine Dream, Amon
Duul? I think tangerine dream are the masters, and
influenced much to come.

Tangerine dream used to have some very good records but some
crap ones too... I've only listened to bits and pieces, so
won't go into details. Amon Duul are very influential, but
had no luck to hear them yet (hopefully it will happen). You
dig Faust, Can, Cluster and Einsturzende neubauten, xenon?

Meho, you should try 'electronic meditiation', their first
album and cylone, i think they are my faves, stratosfear is
good too, as is alpha centauri, oh and tangram...

some of their albums are better than others, but that's coz
they have SO many, over 60 or 70 i think.

i haven't heard any of the guys you just mentioned, but i'm
interested, could you give me some names of good albums?

Faust have a shitload of albums, but it's best if you get a
hold on their 5cd box set containing their early albums plus
BBC sessions. Mind you they are not strictly electronic (in
a Tang. dream sense), but a "Krautrock" band. The same goes
for Can, and I'm really surprised you haven't heard of them
because their influence is so enormous (the claims that they
predate techno by 20 years are a bit overblown but there is
an element of truth to it). Their best album is Tago mago,
but the all early stuff is cool. Cluster, haven't listened
to, so no recommendations but they are very influential and
their name get's dropped around very often.

Cool man thanks for the info.... Tangerine Dream aren't
entirely electronic either, they do have some guitar, and
actually started off as a rock band, you really should check
out electronic meditiation and you'll see what i mean... i'm
listening now, its just wicked, you should d/l the track
'journey through a burning brain' sometime soon.

I've got a friend with a couple dozen of TD albums so I'll
check out with him. Yeah, I know that they weren't
electronic in entirity, but the bands I mentioned are way
more rock than TD, drums and all. Yous hould check out NEU!
too, they only have three albums and have been reissued on
CD some months ago. Very repetitive, motorik stuff. Ah, and
Einsturzende are kings of deathly industrial music, their
early stuff is great and even the newer albums are pretty
nice. (if not that radical)
