So. Those ridiculous bastards that made fruityloops decided
to release a freeware plugin with over 4 billion presets.

If you were to listen to one preset a second it would take
you over 24 years to hear them all, not counting time spent
to sleep eat have sex or do other things that make life
worthwhile.

I am not going to download it because I already have way too
many synthesizers with a zillion patches to listen to. But I
would like to hear what someone has to say about it.

I don't have anything to say about it, because, well, I
won't donwload it either
it's not like I need more presets...

I should imagine that they will be randomly generated

I tried it based on this thread. Navigating the presets is
tedious. The sounds are pretty shitty.

There are no options to manipulate within the presents. Well
there is this one nameless knob right in the center but when
"turned it" i got a string of error messages and my ableton
crashed (this never happens to me).

it' very annoying to use, you have to type in a number to
generate a random preset and it has crashed 4 times in 10
minutes.

DIE YOU FUCKERMUCKER!

and the sound is not very speshul

i like the concept though, but the execution is piss poor

It's so Image-Line: a great idea, poorly executed, with
showstopper bugs.

Gol has absolutely NO CLUE how to code anything for
interoperability. He reads the VST spec then goes off and
codes like an autistic with OCD, then blames the rest of the
world when his shit doesn't work with someone else's.

Sorry to rant. I have a love / hate relationship with FL
Studio. It has so many great ideas but the developers don't
understand what's so special about the app or how to enhance
its basic feature set to make it even better. Gol thinks
it's 1998 and people want to use the mouse and computer
keyboard to make trance through a sound blaster.

"people want to use the mouse and computer
keyboard to make trance through a sound blaster"

the problem is that this is exactly the average floops user.
i for myself love it and probably will never change my daw
to anything else.

Some presets go to 100% CPU, going one preset by one is not
that great. When I saw that it was freeware I knew it was
crap, when was the last time a big time comercial software
company released a good VST for free?

The problem with the average guy is he's actually below
average, and that sucking sound you hear is statistics going
down the toilet.

I guess they wanted to use the 'SETI at home' approach of
having hundreds or thousands of people randomly generating
presets which could then be used on the fully editable
version of the synth.

then you are missing out on a whole universe of sound
creation!

99% of which is pedestrian, but you can only discover the
good stuff if you jump in.

Won't download it either. If i really need a VSTi that does
something, i'll just build it myself.

Well. Not suprised with the feedback at all. Floops has
always been some great stuff packed in a whole bunch of
'meh'.

Freeware plugin with 4 billion presets. Sounds like they are
getting desperate for blog attention.

I played around with it for an evening. I got a couple of
decent patches and one very good one. I bounced a .wav of a
few notes on a scale using the good patch and loaded it into
Recycle, where I Rex'd it for use in Reason. I'm glad I had
a go of it, because I like the track I'm working on based
around this sample, but it's not like I'll be using Autogun
with any sort of regularity.

Presets are there to be slightly changed.

By benders?
