Has anyone checked out the ACID...Hecker album? And if
anyone saw his lives shows with aphex...?

Did he employ the same 3D techniques to the live show>????

I reckon aphex's new album is gona include these 3D
techniques!
it's the future of mixing! Imagine an amazing aphex tune but
with 3D elements? :)

have a listen to 'Acid In The Style Of David Tudor '
on some good headphones, or decent stereo system.

Special techniques have been used to place the sound in the
stereo field!
giving the impression that the sound is 'alive' moving up,
down, left, right and back to front :)

try track 1

You ever hear of Venetian Snares "Huge Chrome Cylinder Box
Unfolding"

If you have a the specific Surround Setup, you can
experience the truth of that album

imagine 'proper' music, but with a few elements of the track
with those effects, for example a 303 line etc but jumpin
out at ya!... this is what im sayin...this is what aphex's
nu album is about !

If this is AFX' next step it will fail him. This is Hecker's
thing, not AFX'. Listening to short cuts, I like some,
dislike some and don't understand the most. The idea of
deconstructing acid is good but surely better and definately
more accessibly executed by Vibert/Simmonds in '93.

Too bad KIT 001 wasn't a true cooperative effort by Hecker
and Voafose! That would've been really interesting.

Though I like noise music, I don't own a Hecker album.
Perhaps this David Tudor take on acid could be the first
one. I search TB-303 elements, are they there, emulated,
deconstructed, destructed, recollected, understood and
hearable in a new way, do you say? Does Hecker use David
Tudor's composing methods?

analogue computer

differential equations calculated by linear circuits
built on the fly
filters, processors, oscillators, envelopes
weird modules built from scratch
unusual possibilities of linear signal processing :-D
kind of like reaktor, analogue hardware version

" The idea of deconstructing acid is good" No it isn't.
Acid wasn't and isn't just a squelchy synth. It's anti
harmony that sounds great at 3am. Melodic acid is such a
step back.

or whatever the name was

Hecker acidises everything.

Deconstructive acid doesn't mean melodic acid. How on earth
would you call Hecker's "acid" melodic? I think he wants to
deconstruct the acid sound itself (anti harmony etc), not
its musical ecology (context etc).

I'm getting more and more intrigued by this record. Don't we
have a hardcore Hecker fan here?

Ceephax may be the least inventive electronic musician for a
while, but he makes better acid

did you check robert normandeau 5.1 release from a few years
ago, excellent.... can't remember label or title, think it
had an astronaut on the cover

man you're right about robbie normandeau minus :

the astronaut cd is "Clair de terre" (mindblowing record), &
its a stereo CD, "classic" album even if its truly great.

its the Puzzle album on DVD audio that has both stereo & 5.1
mixes (+ mp3). can't say much about the 5.1 mix as i dont
own any home cinema 5.1 thing but the "puzzle" album is
great too.

both were released by Empreintes Digitales. i heard a new
album was on its way.

Marcus Schmickler has a 5.1 / stereo CD on Emego, never
heard it yet.

You can do "3D" recordings using binaural microphones.

Futureimage hasn't g o t t i m e for acid.

What's Hecker's role in the Aphex Twin live tour? To
out-fade with noise? It seems to me pretty much like a one
man show (in choice of music, aesthetics, advertising). I
guess it's a rave. The last couple of years people have been
speculating about new, concealed music heard on live sets
– nothing of this kind now, right?

not really no,
just playing goodies with noise enhancement.
was excellent though if you want nu noise-tech breeds
you gotta give it a go yourself. been making some
every once in a while; still not satisfied yet.
