Autechre - iTunes Essentials

A couple of weeks ago the (US) iTunes store compiled their
own "Best of" for Autechre. Well, I think we at xltronic
could've done better...

The omission of "Gantz Graf" is really embarrassing, and I
wouldn't consider "19 Headaches" essential. "Draun Quarter"
should've replaced "Latent Quarter". The iTunes compilers
aren't totally clueless, at least classics like, "The Egg",
"Second Bad Vibel" and "Basscadet" are there.

I can't directly link this, nor can I cut & paste the track
listing for this thread. If you give enough of a rat's ass
to check it out then please do so and comment.

btw, they also have a similar "Essentials" for Aphex Twin. I
can't seem to find Mira Calix's, hmmmm...

...although, there IS a rare Ae track I've never heard of
before. It's called "Bronchus One.I" and it's from some
compilation of electronic music.

Too bad they couldn't get "Blyz Castl" on there.

i've been listening to incunabula a lot lately. autechre is
the greatest. i was just talking to someone who also likes
autechre about how they might be one of like three artists
where i really genuinely like all of their albums. their
evolution has always been interesting.

my ae essentials:

Dial

Cap.IV
Clipper
Pen Expers
Surripere
V-Proc
Rae
Dael

but ask 10 people and you'll get 10 radically different
lists.

Yeah, in my opinion all of AE is essential. Granted I like
some tracks better than others, but I gotta have everything
for my "Essential" collection.

I think most of autechre's tunes have something to offer if
you're willing to pay attention.. That is why I like most of
it..
