deserves its own topic, so who's seen it?

watched a little?

its slow but that's what gives it such great atmosphere, if
you want a more exciting, fast paced version wait for the US
remake. Its swedish, Bergman is one of the greatest film
makers ever and his films a re super slow.

watching a crappy download may also ruin the experience

sorry. you know what it was right was that i'd watched well
over 15 horror films in 3 days, and then i was sitting in
front of this. the problem for me was that i really wasn't
grabbed by anything visually.

Watching the current batch of DVDs is a waste of time too.
The DVD releases in the US have had the subtitles redone and
they are terrible. They've changed some great lines for no
reason at all. The makers will, however, be putting the
option of 'DVD Subtitles' and 'Theatrical Subtitles' on the
next batch of Discs.

For example when the two kids are trying out the morse code
through the wall for the first time in the theatrical
version the subtitle is correct: 'S...w...e...e...t...'

In the DVD version it's: 'Ooooooh....oh...oh....'

Bizarre.

yeah like the morse code and the quiet bullied kid and the
and the sombre EVERYTHING MUST BE TAKEN WELL SERIOUS
lighting + the touching relationship blab blah. i bet the
american remake is going to be well kick arse tho

"theatrical version the subtitle is correct:
'S...w...e...e...t...'
In the DVD version it's: 'Ooooooh....oh...oh....'
Bizarre."

i think 's w e e t' in Swedish means 'little kiss' which was
a nice touch, hopefully there will be a good blu-ray release
soon

I thought it was great. I said in another thread I think
it's my favorite film of 2008 (and by far the best vampire
movie of the year). I haven't seen anything since then that
changed my mind.

Best vampire movie since Near Dark.

Yup. Damn, you just reminded me to watch that again.

I torrented the dvd screener with non fucked up subtitles.
There's a fuzzy bar near the bottom sometimes where the
pirates covered up a watermark but aside from that it's ace,
and you don't really notice the mark. Look for

Good movie, and now that I'm aware of it, I'm glad to know
that I watched the one with the good subs, I noticed that
bar of blur.

I love this film. I've watched it 3 or 4 times now and I
think it's one of the most original films I've seen in
years. And never has a "horror" film been so simultaneously
creepy and heartwarming.

Some really gorgeous cinematography in this one too. Some of
it reminds me of Wes Anderson's films; the fixed camera and
the symmetry of the shot.
