well why would you be worried? its social networking sites.
if you don't like the fact that you're being watched, don't
use them. if it wasn't for the fact that social networkings
sites are so trite and inane it might be a cause for
concern, like say, the proposed I.D card scheme.

Social networking has given us pokes, tweets and
lilly-fucking-allen. what do they expect to find anyway?
"Usman is building a dirty bomb lol!"

i get a bit pissed off when people moan about how this
country is a POLICE STATE or its like 1984.

no its not.

if it was we wouldn't even be allowed to talk about things
like this. for all the faults with this country theres also
a lot right with it and i get fucked off when people vent
their piss tits about something thats so fucking pointless
it doesnt matter. there are bigger fish to fry and there
are places in the world where people are suffering real
human rights abuses and are censored to an insane degree.

I don't like the idea that our government is watching
-spying- on people, its invasive and creepy and probably
uncessary, but if you don't wan't them to see you poke your
friends up the bum, try logging off.

I am not saying it is like 1984, but it is heading that way.

And it isn't jst social networking sites, it's a lot more
that this represents and brings awareness to- the govt using
terrorism as an excuse to spy on people. The fact that you
said, that they won't be likely to find what they want from
it, evidence of terrorism, is only proof that potential
terrorism is nothing more than an excuse to invade people's
privacy.

What is "right with" the UK, then?

You just sound patriotic and excessivley angry, btw.

Thinking about what role the govt. has in people's lives is
important. What's wrong with discussing it?

I didn't say I was worried, I just asked if other people
were. I am not just reffering to social networking sites. I
am trying to start a discussion about govt monitoring in
general.

What do you think was going to happen? If you don't want the
government keeping tabs on your every move, don't post them
on a public forum.

Why are people so concerned about privacy anyway? I have
never understood why people care that the government knows
what porn they masturbate to or what parties they go to or
what music they listen to. Most people lead inane lives.

see, thats just how much of a presumptious cunt you are. for
the record. i'm no patriot. theres a lot to be pissed off
about with this country and its governance, but it allows
for also a lot of freedoms. when people talk about the UK
becoming a totalitarian state, it smacks of the lazy tack
sensationalism you would expect to read about in the Daily
Mail or the Independent.

- you have access to free health care and to a certain age,
education
- you have virtually uncensored internet access, even if
some aspects are monitored
- you have freedom of movement
- you have freedom of speech
- the right to lawful protest-
- laws protecting almost every minority group from
discrimination and abuse
- the welfare state, for those who need it.

believe it or not, not everyone has this level of freedom in
the world. equally irritating are people who say "you make
your own destiny in life". This is only true providing you
have the oppertunity in the first place. its insulting as it
implies people who are suffering.oppressed deserve it for
not making the effort. fucked up.

1984 my eye. have you even fucking read it?

serioulsy though, fucking CID raid my house, so recently i
have been feeling paranoid about people invading my privacy.
i keep thinking i'm being followed in my car. and in the
pub, i keep clocking some shady geezer looking at me through
holes in a newspaper....

i dont think the government has a clear understanding of
IDM, so they would probably not understand a single word of
what we're saying

really, not that one have to say nothing if there's really
something to be worried, but be worried about a fucking
social newtwork.. if you don't like the way they manage it
just get the fuck out of it no? a gossip that i've heard
some time ago and one that i might be more worried about is
that the london police 'spies' the tourists from the moment
they arrive to the moment they leave the city, but then
again.. won't be such news i think.
