did you know that at least two of the members in BAD
RELIGION hold masters degrees?! the lead singer has a
masters in political science and a minor in
sociology/psychology and teaches at UCLA while the bass
player holds a masters in physics. and the lead singer form
the DESCEDENTS has a masters in bio-chemistry. just thought
you'd like to know. pretty intresting information for ya.

what, so they do experiments on stage or something?

thats the only thing I can see that would lead to the
betterment of the music from those guys having degrees.

well marlowe expressed this opinion earlier sometimes it's
about getting back to the fucking basics. i'm not trying to
change anyones mind about it. like spookyluke said before
about his topic the same goes for mine, this is a mb a place
to express your thoughts so that you may communicate with
people who have similar tastes. i'm not stupid, i did
expect heated replies. i just felt it was fair to get the
other side of the debate it's own topic as well.

Dead Kennedys were ok. New stuff is crap. Sex Pistols were a
clothes shop. Best band is Piss Warm Chango.

ALL MY LIFE I AM DESTINED VISIONS OF NOAH

punk is the music of life, of the passions.

no man, Punk sucks... I can respect the idea of punk and
all, but it doesn't make me want to listen to the crap
music... nor does that fact that some of the members of punk
bands have degrees, and are intelligent... well, I say to
them, use some of your intelligence to learn how to play
some good music...

I like the fact IDM (or whatever) doesn't really have a
fashion, its just more about the music rather than a whole
culture (though it is its own subculture in itself)

hey! guess what? i'm bored and i think we've covered just
about every angle on why you think it sux and why we don't
think it sux, so stick a fork in me i'm fuckin' done. btw i
respect everyones opinion on here. some just have a more
fucked up way of giving theirs.

it's all opinion... I don't know why we all get so worked up
over it... :)

I disagree actually EVOL, see I think we aren't done, that
we are merely touching....

it's not the opinion that hurts, it's the subjuect. like if
i were to say, "hey! i think your mom is a fat cum drinking
whore." that's just my opinion but it's your mom so you
would get worked up over it.

offline Spookyluke from United States on 2002-03-30 20:14 [#00150989]

Oh, yah, Dead Kennedy's. Okay--there, that's the one "punk"
band I can tolerate. I wouldn't listen to 'em, but for what
they do, I suppose they do it well.

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2002-03-30 20:17 [#00150992]

The clash were alright, and only because they seemed to mix
up their styles... I would never buy a punk album because I
dunno, the music just seems so boring to me...

Spookyluke: I figured out your picture man, it's cool... :)

well, i'm glad to hear you both say you like this and that
band. and the fact that you wont listen or buy their albums
is fine with me. i never had a problem with the fact that
you 'unliked' punk in the first place just the way you went
about stating your opinion was a bit harsh. that's all
folks.

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2002-03-30 20:25 [#00151004]

well man, if I say "Punk SUCKS ASS and is the worst music
very known to man" that isn't a slight against you for
liking punk... it's just my opinion about the music... don't
take it all so personally...

it's hard not to when you don't understand the meaning of it
all, to me. hence my previous analogy was to try and help
you understand the kind of bearing punk has to do with my
life. the same way i've tried to explain that it's not just
about the music it's a culture and how can i take you
seriously when you come right out and bash the music, fine
go ahead, but don't tell me you understand the culture.
because it's plain to see that you don't and that is fine
too. analogy: it's like christians and catholics going at
it for how long now. pointless. it is a lifestyle that i
choose and it constantly affects the choices i make in my
life with how i see best fit to live it. when you blindly
throw wild accusations around it makes you seem so oblivious
to others feelings that you are a product of conformist
society. you only feel and think when others tell you how
and what. you are just like children in a supermarket that
see a fat lady in line and you just open your mouth with out
even thinking of a reaction from anyone and yell out, "look
at that lady she is fat!" slow down next time and think
about how your opinion might berate what others hold so
dear. it may just be worth keeping to yourself.

Ack, I hate punk so much. Just the WORD punk makes me mad.

Only punk band I like is the Clash, and what I like about
the Clash is how UN-punk they were, in a way... they seemed
many levels above their punky imitators. I hate punk.

I can't define punk. But I know what I hate... and I hate
all things ''punk''. Nothing involving that word has ever
done anything good for me.

blah, grow up guys, seriously... quit argueing over this,
cause it's not going anywhere... I say I hate punk, does
that mean I've researched the whole punk movement, listened
to every single song, and then decided that I hate it? No,
it just means that I've heard a fair bit of punk, and it
doesn't do anything for me... Marlowe, you seem to be trying
to show how ignorant we are because we don't know the true
meaning of punk, the whole punk revolution... I don't need
to... I've heard my fair share, and I don't want to hear any
more... hey, if you want, go ahead and suggest some songs
that you think might be able to sway my opinion, and I'll
give em a listen sometime... but this is stupid... don't be
so on the defensive...

hey, I know this isn't the right time to say this but...
Punk music sucks. I like the punk mentality though, of not
giving a shit about what others think. I just wish all punk
rockers listened to venetian snares or something

Because it makes him feel good when he thinks "I've knocked
someone down a few pegs", after pinching-off his loaf of
highfalutin hypocritical remarks.
