AFX THE GREATEST

offline MASUGNEN from Lund (Sweden) on 2009-02-26 12:48 [#02275209]

Recently Barcode ditched AFX for not being efficient and
courageous enough. This is a common opinion, of AFX as of
many (musical) heroes reaching beyond their most productive
years. I wish we all could give the guy a break. He IS the
greatest genius, the Mozart of electronic music, he HAS
brought us so many monolithic tracks and albums, even genres
and novel ways to approach and enjoy music. There aren't
many bad AFX tracks amongst us and we all entertain the
legend.

Why do we demand so much of the able and gifted? Why do we
consider AFX responsible for music's development? Why must
he continue to bless us?

Yeah but he's so amazing that he coverts his best so that it
won't influence anyone. What if Stockhausen et al had had
that attitude Richard?

I will second this movement. Though my hate for WATMM does
not reach the levels of Advocate.

i suppose "hate" is a bit too strong language.

let me put it another way: watmm's like a superbig hollywood
movie with poor actors and CGI, while xltronic is a weird
and european indie movie with amateur actors.

Why would he avoid influencing other artists? He runs a
record company that exclusively label AFX clones.

yeh everyone is asking too much of aphex, he's done enough.
we can want more but can't really demand anything. even his
less crafted stuff has more charisma than sp imo.
