So far I've listened to Kirlian Selections, Acidwolf,
Réunion, and Programmable Love Songs and I haven't heard a
single track I don't like. I don't know what took me so long
to check him out, I had heard his name many times before.
Acidwolf is definitely the best album I've heard since
Tipper's Wobble Factor.
If you've never heard him, you can hear tracks
here and here

He is the most important figure to have come out of America
since Venetian snares.

He ranks alongside Aphex twin or Picasso for creativity.

Acidwolf and Human Action Networks are my favourites. For
more flashbulbian 303 action, hear Napalm Enema Records, the
most interesting label as of now.

The name of that record label makes my sphincter contract,
at the thought. :( hehe

Flashbulb will be the best remembered IDM artist of the 21st
century.
He is the most musical out of all of the IDMers

Agreed, he is progressing too, whereas Aphex is just rotting
in his own dung.

I would be far more interested in buying a new Flashbulb
album than Aphex. In fact, I would look first to Square,
BOC, Vibert - almost anyone over Aphex - personally I think
he's finished, too frightened to take a risk.

the best thing about this thread is the image of rdj
cowering in a bathroom stall, face red and tear stained,
rings of sweat stains under his arms, babbling and unable to
see a way out of the fright that has gripped him, wondering
if he'll ever make a lush melody to satisfy barcode again.

sadly, it's too late. barcode's gone to square.

The Flashbulb has at last admitted that he is the person
responsible for this Tuss project. And it makes not one bit
of difference to me, this guy is a fucking genius. You can
tell he's an old IDM-er from the depth of his grooves, the
carefree & utterly addictive 303 squiggles, the
bowel-busting techno kick drums, the wonderfully skittery
hi-hat action....Oh I loves 'im I do. I thought his Kirlians
Circles was bloody superb, still playing it regularly (more
often than my Aphex records even) but these new volumes for
that label are just as great, an LP soon to drop too. It's
hard to review quality rave music, track by track. This is
pooky, it's got a garish grey label and is stuffed with hot
funky acid madness. It's something only your head & feet can
comprehend, rather than your mouth. If I was to review this
with my fingers i'd say this is Shark, dolphin, steel cargo
container. Blastin'.

I just listened to Pale Blue Dot. It's good, but I liked
Tim Hecker's new one better. Although it's an ambient album,
it feels like most of the tracks lack any depth. Some of
the tracks are good and can stand on their own, but others
seem like the kind of ambient music a 12 year old could
make.

Loud drone noises ≠ clever and unique ambient album

Most of his tracks sound a little cheap like if they were
made in FL5 with the default instruments and with
dblue_Glitch running in all FX channels, his production
varies too much too, needs to invest in better mastering. He
does write some nice melodies and funky basslines, some of
the best in the biz.

If Flashbulb were actually the Tuss, then I will have to
respect his production techniques... even if it sounds
heavily like an AFX offshoot.
Should he make more Tuss output, then I'll be first in line
to buy.

The Tuss work sounds much better overall than the other
Flashbulb work IMO.

Mask 500, quit griping about production. Some of the best
damn compositions had to involve the cassettes frequency
limitations (as that was the only recording device around
for broke musicians), let alone computer samples with much
better resolutions...
why don't you go out and buy BT or some other metro-sexual
shit.

Sorry Mask, but I'd kill to defend lo-fi.

The Flashbulb is not Tuss. RDJ officially is Tuss. The
tracks released under Tuss are registered under JAMES
RICHARD DAVID on BMI.

Benn Jordan is a real Genius: at the back of his Reunion
album is written:

NO COMPUTERS WERE USED IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE RECORDING
WITHIN.

ps: I cant imagine how he can create his music without even
1 computer, like Anthony Rother´s track says: "ART IS A
TECHNOLOGY".

well, it's all a load of shit; and I don't know why there's
a message board entry on the Tuss of Aphex nearly every
week.

I think music would be more innovative without them.

Derivative tripe, judging by the tracks on his myspace page.
I can hear a Drukqs ripoff, Squarepusher ripoff, Donnie
Darko soundtrack ripoff, 'Louisiana Mourning' sounds like
The Softest Voice by Animal Collective... this cheeseball's
got no freakin' class.
