the 90's underappreciated music

maybe its my age but I can't help but have fond memories
for cheesy 90's euro/dance music like Whigfield, Ace of
Base, Olive - your not alone and loads more, I don't think I
really appreciated how good some of this music really was.

I guess is was the era of the single and filler tracks,
which is dying out now...

Just as well really because most pop music these days is so
overproduced crap by people who take themsevesm far too
seriously.

anyone else have fond memories of 90's cheese?

I think people will begin to go 90'ies retro very soon. The
sounds and all that.

Stuff i liked in the 90'ies, that sticks
Tricky
Smashing Pumpkins
Faithless
Portishead
RATM

Oh, i also really like that fucking "spaceman" song.

the 90s are to dance what the 70s were to rock. of course,
i've got no idea what i'm talking about. but it sure as hell
got a nice ring to it.

i don't know that one really, but here's Hithouse

also, Jesus Jones' first album

and The Charlatans "between 10th and 11th" produced by
Flood

both still sound good to me

One of the factors is that it's uncool to listen to 90's
dance now, eurodance is actually a sort of progression from
italo-disco, imo at least, anyway here's some tracks I
like:

Snap - Rythm Is A Dancer
Le Click - Tonight Is The Night
Jam & Spoon - Right In The Night
Ice MC - It's A Rainy Day
Corona - The Rhythm Of The Night

Actually anything from Corona is great.

Captain Hollywood Project - More And More
Cappella - U Got 2 Let The Music (brilliant track)
Cappella - Move it up
20 Fingers Feat. Roula - Lick It
20 Fingers - Short Dick Man (classic)
2 Unlimited - The Real Thing

I love '90's commercial eurodisco. A Swedish revival is
already at work.

i second Mask 500's suggestion of Cappella.

i fondly remember my school trip to Belgium in 1994, it was
a coach trip from the north west down to Dover and then a
ferry over to France, to continue the coach trip across to
Belgium.

During the trip, i didn't have any form of entertainment and
the lad who sat next to me kindly let me listen to his
cassette player for part of the journey while he slept.

i dunno what tracks where on there, but i remember asking
him later on and it was a cassette full of Cappella tracks
and other stuff from that time.

good days :)

hah! i was just thinking about the Smurfs go pop.. i've got
it on cassette somewhere :)

the lighthouse family were the staple for bits of late 90s
TV progs when OTT 'uplifting' 'life changing' stuff happened
and now theyve been replaced with snow patrol chasing cars!

i bet the underappreciated stuff is so underappreciated that
no one's ever heard of it.

it's still lying in someone's garage somewhere, or on a lone
demo tape in some cupboard that never saw the light of day.

Here's to the unsung heroes.
