How are you?

As put succinctly in American Beauty by Lester Burnham,
when asked how he was, "No one's asked me that in a long
time". Or something like that...

People don't see to each other's wellbeing enough, so I am
taking this oppurtunity to ask every how they they are
doing. How's life? New year kicking off to a good start?
Girlfriend still being an annoying nob?

Anything- just tell me how you are doing, hope you're well!
X

this bit of lyrics sums up how I am:

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
I've looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

next time, ask "Why are you?". it somehow seems more
appropriate.

But most of the time people don't really mean it.

I mean saying it and actually caring about the response is a
rare thing.

Not bad, thanks. :) I need a job desperately though.

Are you not worried about having quit your job in a time of
such economic crisis?

when others use it as a canned greeting expecting a canned,
superficial answer, its best to give an inappropriately
detailed recap of all the problems you've been dealing with
lately, and then ask for money.

i used to be anti the "how are you" greeting. i still am
actually because you always get the default answer which is
pointless.

but of late i ask it automatically whenever i first
see/speak to someone, i can't help it, must be something to
do with getting old.

sometimes i go for a change with "whats going down", but the
answer isn't really any different. even if something
interesting is "going down" the answer which generally be
"not much".

if it were a genuine question expecting an actual answer i
would probably phrase it in a less generic & more specific
manner.

and to answer your original question, moderately adequate,
thanks for asking.

also there's not much going down atm. well actually,
prodigy concert next week, w00t. but i must still preface
with "not much" before giving an actual answer... oh wait
you didn't ask that. kthxbi
