i know it's not quite as bad over here but we've definitely
had some very similar oppressive police tactics being used
to prevent any protesting whatsoever. currently i am
struggling to fully understand the mentality shown here. i
feel we should be above this by now.

:-O

sadly, the media never seems to cover these incidents
properly. its a really astounding smack in the face.
that cop probably even thinks hes doing the right thing
aswell.

to be the devil's advocate: freedom of speech is one thing,
having a huge sign with the word "bush" on it with the s in
the form of a swastika, is another. if you want to invite
aggression, by all means use those signs, or some other
extremities. you're free to do so. but don't start crying
when you actually get some form of aggression.

of course this banner is insulting, but police starting
violence in demonstrations is not an isolated incident.

cop on a bike in shorts takes it personally. this is about
as interesting as a bar brawl.

I don't think it's that simple. I think there's enough
evidence in the vid to suggest that the police planned on
inciting aggression so that they'd be able to stop the
protest with no questions asked. It's becoming a common
practice.

Thought provoking video- thanks for posting.

It is more than just a "pub brawl"- it wasn't just a
civilian that turned the whole thing violent, it was a cop.
He should have been witholinding the law and obviously it
was within the law for those guys to protest.

goDel, I sorta agree with you, but since a cop started
violence for no reason, I think your argument falls flat.

I think you mean 'upholding the law', not withholding LOL.

And the narrator on the vid says there was a cop in plain
clothes mingling with the protest crowd, so obviously it was
pre-planned to start a disturbance to give the cops an
excuse to shut the protest down.

The plainclothes cop was probably hiding in the crowd to try
and listen to what the protesters plans were, and feed that
back to the cops
