Jazz, rock, techno, rap, whatever... gimme the songs and/or drummers that drop killer beats!
When I was young it was New Order's Stephen Morris that got me into taking drum lessons when I was young (even though I knew half of those beats were pre-programmed drum machines)
Here's a current fave of mine: Joey Baron. The guy looks like he actually enjoys what he's doing.
Autechre's Gantz Graf is one of the more complex beats I've heard in recent years. Beautiful stuff.

theres a banging track on miles 'big fun' album the drums pan left right to some wild guitar and wind instrument. the rest of the album is very mellow and dark.
worth download for the one drum track.

That track is "Go Ahead John" from Big Fun. Personally I find the effect annoying, it sounds too gimmicky and would have been better used sparingly.

possibly the most listenable, enjoyable drum solo in all of history, and it was played by a frickin' 10-year-old:
tony royster jr
apparently this kid is one of the top session drummers in the world now.

sorry, he's 12 in this vid, not 10. one of my favorite parts is the sound in the announcer's voice at the end, you can clearly hear him saying "holy fucking shit where did that come from?" in that one little choke/chuckle.

Most of those drummers underwhelmed me to quite a high degree. The kid's drumming I didn't enjoy, mostly because he just plays for the sake of it, without integrating their playing into real songs.
This guy plays just about every percussion instrument ima...

I like that electronic one, but its interesting to think that whilst its difficult to play on something like the MPC he has there, it would be quite easy to play the same rhythm on a proper drum kit...
Maybe he should try using a electronic full size kit, and trigger the samples that way :)
It's all about the interface. (at least thats what my girlfriend keeps saying)

Three greats right here. I particularly love the opening bit by Weckl. Vinnie Colaiuta is one of the finest drummers alive. A lot of feeling in his playing.
I second the Jack Dejohnnette mention.
Elvin Jones is a bad man. Listen to A Love Supreme.
I don't really care for Tool's music, but Danny Carey is an excellent drummer.
