Doing a gig in Copenhagen tomorrow (tirsdag) on Nörrebro at "gefährlich" around 22. Gonna play some computer, have a few beers, listen to some other music. Copenhagen people should drop by if they feel the need to get out of the house.

Carl Emil is playing a DJ set if I remember correctly.. Don't know the guy, was introduced by our common friend "Uffe/Nabo" I'm just playing a few of my songs, not cool, not chill, nothing really but I think it will be ok anyway. You should say hello for sure!

chuckycunt: Ah cool, I met Uffe at Norberg this summer, listened to some of his music and chatted a bit about music, we seem to have somewhat similar ideas of allot of stuff even though our sounds a very different from eachother. Hes a cool guy.
Priestydirt: I dont have anything on the net that im very proad of or so but I will be playing some stuff from these sample session on myspace I have no idea how the venue is or anything, I got a friend who lives a 20min walk from Nörrebro so I'm staying there, planning to grab some beers and just wind down a bit after crappy weeks of intense studying..

Yeah, I agree with both of you. My initial thought when I heard about this was "Lund? my ass hah!" when I realized it was true I went all "YAY SP in Lund!" now a day later I'm thinking "Yay.. this is.. going to.. be.. interesting".
Have a feeling it will be very "rock n roll"...

Well… It was pretty good I guess. It started off with some very melodic pieces, evolved into some kind of punk like tunes (accompanied by a drummer) and finally went into the classical Squarepusher style, even playing “come on my selector”. In the beginning I feared that Mr. Jenkinson had evolved into some kind of Mike Oldfield clown, since it seemed like the concert was his own public version of “Bass hero” at times, but throughout the concert the audience got more and more engaged. The live element of the concert was mostly (or entirely, I’m not sure) Tom playing bass over pre recorded stuff, and the talented yet slightly misplaced drummer banging away on the punk tracks.
I couldn’t help but think that Squarepusher should either decide to become a full blown live band, or just do it alone (Which worked brilliantly for his colleague DMX Krew I saw Saturday).
It was some weird kind of bass karaoke, that still functioned pretty well on its own merit.
All in all, I have to say that I had a pretty good time at the concert. It wasn’t perfect, but on the other hand it’s a difficult task to make music like this work live without seeming too pre made.
I would really recommend getting up front when you go see him; I think that will make it much more enjoyable. I was placed to far back for it to be completely engaging.
I give it 3.5 out of 6

That sounds ok and sort of what I expected based on some random yötöbe clips. Looking forward to hear a old piece or two and maybe even one or two new, one of the things I really dislike about the latest releases is the way it's mixed, the drums sounds like chopsticks on a table more then anything and the bass is lacking.. bass.. So that might be better live. Got myself a ticket, gonna have a couple of good brews tonight before I go and hopefully it will resault in a good time.
I'll get up close, bringing a camera ;)

Squarepusher played in my town once. The venue was good but it was an abandoned pub. He started off by playing some of his earlier hits like the burglar and eviscerate. They were poorly performed because of a faulty cable and wine in the main PA mixer. Then he brought in a local prog band called Norrbottens Järn and they jammed along with a mandolin, triangle and maracas. My face was rotting on LSD at this point. There were hardly any mobile phones around in those days so i tried calling my friend from a cobra phone but he was celebrating his birthday so he could'nt answer. When the prog band gradually started to try and play their own songs, Tom Jenkinson swiftly turned on his SH-101 bass synth and started to program it on the fly in an attempt to drain the prog band of their will to "live". I later learnt that was the bass tune that became Vic Acid. The venue closed at 8 in the evening much to the pushers chagrin as he had only been on for ten minutes. But it was a good show nonetheless.
A few hours later the pub was burnt to the ground along with a man and the fire station.

It basically sucked. His ego was the worst part but the music was pretty bad aswell. His bass playing gets boring after half a song and he never even introduced the poor drummer who worked his ass of for a good while there in the middle of the set.

_awt_'s post is making me first angry, then sad. This attitude brings the death of music and of experience.
If you don't like Squarepusher, why go to a concert? If you do like Squarepusher, why be disappointed when he mainly plays pre-recorded album material? If you find his ego oversized, have you been to another music concert?
Feel the vibe. Dwell in sound. Allow an experience. If you think you're capable of a musical scrutinization of the performance, bring us the analysis instead of complain. (You won't be able.) Don't be a bore. Give the man a break, he's a rave, a legend and you know it since you went. His action rocked but the Swedish audience was too pretentious, biased and soulless to let itself flow along.
Man, support good music, don't kill it.

I was a big Squarepusher fan, the three last releases has been somewhat dissapointing to me though. I do think "Hello Everything" has some neat typical Squarepusher melodies and harmonies but the latest two releases is lacking of this and is lacking of interesting rythmic elements in my personal opinion. Offcourse I feared and expected him to play allot from the later releases but I could see how he actually did more interesting things with them instead of simply playing his bass over the tracks (and the tracks where identical to the CD versions.) Offcourse I liked Come ony my selector and A journey to reedham but his bass being played "over them" didn't add anything, it almost ruined it as it sounded like a Squarepusher fan sitting at home jamming over the pre-recorded tracks.
I did go there with some expectations that he would alter his tracks or at least split the channels of a track up and remove the bass replacing it with his own playing but no, when he didn't play and just stood back doing nothing you could still here all the original elements of the different songs, including the basslines (and it didn't make it sound worse but better!)
And what was up with two laptops and nine+ pedals? The stuff he did live (playback with bass guittar on top) basically require a CD player and he never did alter his bass sound enough to motivate the use of that many pedals, when I first saw them I thought "damn this is going to get crazy" but the crazyest thing he did was linking a pedal to a gate on his playback track making it go mute when he didn't play along wich in turn sounded rather lame.
Tom never did that "much" live, now when he is playing his bass I guess he feels a bit more like a rockstar. I personally rather see him behind a rack banging out load, genious "drill 'n' bass" but I guess that's not very hot nowadays. I just dont think his bass playing works very well on his tracks, especially not live and this set was all about that. I would have loved a plain old dj set or something ins
