it's a software environment for making sound stuff-it's
kinda similar to max in what it can do, but has less
interface

I've managed to playback a 303ish bassline but it didn't
play back properly.
I think this thing is so complicated it isn't fun anymore.
There must be better/easier things available(MAX/MSP, PD,
CPS, Reaktor, Sync etc...)

I just downloaded Flash MX and Acid Pro 3.0. I'm all set for
fame now.

I'm learning CSOUND at the moment....

Hard going, but I'm a progarmmer at heart so doing stuff
with text files is pretty natural for me....

but yeah, it ain't much fun but as a way of sourcing some
NEW sounds, there's few ways better than going this
route...

Paco...I'm expecting Flash MX to turn up on
Tuesday...looking forward to that as I used Flash everyday
and it's new features and gonna make my life sooooo much
easier...

jand:do you know if csound will do live sound processing?
i've been combing thru the manual and i'm not sure how to
implement it if it's there

not sure...haven't delve into enough yet...

But I expect there are some audio-in...given enough CPU
power & hardware, I guess anything is possible...

But maybe, MAX/MSP/Raktor etc would be a better bet....

i think it can process audio in realtime but not sure about
live processing......

Have a look at Puredata .... a Freeware MAX (by the same
guy) but OPEN SOURCE...plus audio processing etc...

Worth getting in early with software like
this...NI/Steinberg etc are IRCAM spies ;)...

ever tried keykit? i found it and it looks a LOT like an
early version of max (involves bangs even)

it's freeware from AT&T

is puredata multi-platform?

If you really want to get into Csound I would recommend
buying The Csound book by Richard Boulanger. the book is
used at the Berklee school of Music and what a coincidence
that's where Mr.Boulanger teaches too. From what i hear its
also used at MIT and other schools. its a pretty long book,
prob about 1000 but it comes with a cdrom with the book,
instruments, sounds, tutorials, and latest version of Csound.
And I think its only $50.00 so that comes out like .20 cents
a page. I keep meaning to buy it but Csound really seems
like a big time investment. Otherwise check out
www.csounds.com or contact Mr. Boulanger himself at:
csound@attbi.com
i have talked to him once or twice and he seems very
helpful.

Thanks for the info... I think I might well e Mr B and have
a chat just to check whether it'll be able to do what I
need...

I'm pretty sure it will but don't want to go to all that
effort if it's gonna be too long-winded...I'm used to
controlling software with text files so that's not a
problem...

Spent the day with Flash MX today....some very very
intriguing Audio & Video features in there that may prove to
be very useful when publishing the eventual pieces on the
web...

Cheers again for the info & email addy...
