is he still doing that psy-trance world music fusion shit?

that stuff can be good in short bursts, but gets really
tired over time for me.

yes and no, could only count about 2 psy-trance segments in
the entire set

but yeah laden with "world" music (hate that term),
production wise it was truly outstanding

11 piece band not including the dancers, really was amazing
as much as i hate to use the genre of world music when
describing music

the full band sounds like it would have been quite cool. i
would have just expected him to be spinning on his laptop or
something.

and yeah "world" music is an awful term, but there's not
much else to describe it. pseudo-indian/egyptian/[ethnic
variation] music?

So... how's the new material?

I like the deep eastern/mystical sounding stuff, not so much
a fan of the cheese and horns. I like the nice phat beats as
well.

Cheese/horn content of the new stuff?

from what i can remember the new material sounded great,

understand with it being a shpongle gig the chances of
remembering specifics are going to be very difficult and
hazy

all i know is that all in all everything sounded pretty damn
amazing

Ah yes, shpongled indeed.

Well, Posford will be on these shores towards the end of
december, so I should be able to judge for myself soon
enough.

Would have been great to see the whole band though

As far as psy chill/dub/breaks whatever go Ott is one of the
best. Shame you missed out on that one, but surely the
chance will arise again.

I don't like psytrance, but I'm well into this type of
thing. Doesn't seem to get enough recognition IMO- everyone
around these parts are trance nazis, or don't have the time
of day for anything psy related.

i like psy trance in very very small doses, all sounds very
samey

ott is the master of production tho, blumenkraft!!!!!! holy
shit

i emailed him askin him how much he charges for a gig 4000
euros for a 90 minute live set or 2000 euros for a 2hour dj
set

and yeah ive only ever seen about 3 posts on this board
about psychedelic dub music

best trip music by far

Indeed, I'm inclined to agree.

I'm of a similar opinion with psytrance. A little goes a
long way, then it starts getting pretty bland. It depresses
me no end to see parties here with many international psy
trance artists, but no psy dub love. There's no getting
through to the psy trance crowd though, their thirst for
trance is insatiable.

I find some of the stuff happening on the fringes of psy dub
very interesting. People like Bluetech incorporating IDM-ish
elements, working towards new horizons. I'm a little
surprised there isn't more love around these parts...

I've never understood the lack of psy-love on this forum.
Albums like Are You Shpongled and Hallucinogen in Dub are
easily as rich, complex and beautiful as anything by Plaid,
Arovane, etc

Shpongle's dj gigs can be pretty fun, but also a bit all
over the place. That's why I would've liked to have been
there this time, with a real live ensemble.

OTT, on the other hand, blew me away. I was surprised and
delighted (that was last year). One of the best live acts I
can imagine.
