can anybody of you tell me anything about this town, mainly
musical/clubbing wise?

i got an offer to study there for a year starting from
february, looked up google but looks rather dull and
uninteresting...

if not aarhus - is there any town nearby where something is
going on?

What are you going to study? Is it the electro acoustic
music thing?

I'm no expert on Ã…rhus, but i can tell you a bit. It's the
biggest city in the area, and the second biggest city in
Denmark after the capitol of Copenhagen (Where i live).

Anyway, the impression i get from people i know there, is
that there is actually a lot of stuff going on for someone
interested in culture. I am not sure about this, but a
couple of years of go Ã…rhus was the place to be electronic
music wise, having an even bigger scene for that compared to
Copenhagen.

People in Denmark might appear very cold at first, but if
you get to know someone well, they are a true friend (That
is what foreigners have told me at least).

+ LOTS of cute girls!

Anyway, if you actually get to Denmark, you are very welcome
to have a beer with me in Copenhagen :)

Every week a ship from Reykjavik ships a shit load of
containers. You can engage in containerspotting.

no no the studies don't have absolute anything to do with
music but with wastewater :)

last week there was someone at our uni presenting the arhuus
engineering college. so me and my friend aplied altough we
were quite sure we won't have a chance because we don't
really have good marks and i always thought that only good
students actually get that far.

the problem is that me and my friend are actually the only
ones that aplied at all so we have quite good chances right
now - it's a bit sudden in fact.

the problem is that now i'm not really sure about it just
looking at aarhus.

i mean in fact it looks quite interesting - i mean 300 000
inhabitants + 50 000 students. i guess you're able to meet
people from all over the world there.

the thing is just that my musical expectations are quite
high an i'm not really into partying with 70s and 80s music.

i mean i don't expect to find some stricte idm club there
but in fact even in aberdeen which i thought of as the end
of the world had it's a nice club where even guests from
warp appeared.

i mean this won't probably count when i will decide if to go
but still i wouldn't want to spend a year drinking in my
student room.

I hear ya - And 90% of the clubs will be 80'ies and even
90'ies music! BUT - I know there is a club there that has
had artists like Bogdan Raczynski and Venitian Snares play,
and lots of other interesting electronic music. There is an
electronic scene in Denmark that i believe is worth checking
out.

You should consider it, i'm positive youre going to have
fun!

Yes check for the Prototybe event. I did a gig there in -04
and i think bogdan, venetian snares and ceephax have been on
there too. Its a great venue and is lots of fun fun fun.
And yes, very nice people.

looks interesting - there are a few movies on youtube.

my god i talked today with my contact person here in poland
and he has given me green light - aarhus too. in fact the
only thing i have to do is pass two exams i haven't passed
yet from last year which is absolutely possible.

fuck meh. aarhus.

I agree with QRDL. You might look back on this years from
now and find that going to study there was one of the best
things you ever had the opportunity to do.

thanks guys for the kind words.

i guess you're right in fact - a lot of people tell me
similar things.

the problem is just that 2 years ago i moved from my home
town to the city where i live right now for studying. is was
forced too - i didn't pass the first year at my local uni
and the tossed me out (not that i was lazy or bad learning,
it's a long story and series of misunderstanding). it was
quite shocking and i couldn't really find myself here. now
after two years i have just mad myself comfortable, have a
lot of friends, know where to go to party and there is
actually quite alot going on here musical wise. i have a
girlfriend since 3 weeks and the rest of poland is open for
me too.

i'm actually still quite axhausted after leaving mu home
town, and now when i have really lived myslef into this
place - again some change. the worst part is that denmark
would be only a year, after that i would have to come back
here for one semester, write finishing work, and then back
to my hometown... jeez.

the other thing is that - i wouldn't call myself a sociopath
but i'm not really into student parties, drinking and sexing
each other. i rather want to listen to some good music while
siping a pint alone in a gloomy club :>

the other thing that let's me think about this is the fact
that um.... i'm in fact studying civil engineering - with
the speciality of waste water engineering. i actually found
myself after trying several times to uni's with audio
engineering and in the end not finding anything in this
theme at all. so i'm actually quite by mistake here.

i in fact wanted just to finish my studies which don't
really consume a lot of my time and in the back finish
albums send demos etc. trying to start my musical career. i
wanted to be signed in two years and if not - still have my
degree so i could make some normal job too if i wouldn't get
along with making music.

this aarhus now is dead-serious. you know after this you are
actually an expert in this stuff and you can go all over the
world find some job with it. but a very time consuming job
which definately wouldn't allow me to make music further.

copenhagen would be a better choice, to be honest. however,
aarhus has a small community of dedicated people, that are
throwing amazing events.. mail me if you need specific
information, i used to live there.

a you know there are a lot of towns that would be a better
choice :)

the thing is that the uni in aarhus is the only choice i
have right now being suited for the specialisation i do.
this whole exchange is done between our uni's and i get
grants and money for living.

i could of course go to another town but i would have to do
it on my own then.

thanks for the info - i'll definately mail you once i'm
there. i will want to see copenhagen too of course.
