If your attitude towards pets changes this quickly, maybe you should not have a pet at all? When you get it you may decide you don't want, then like chuck it off a bridge in a sack or summit...
Get a cat anyway, if you don't already have one. They actually have a will of their own, unlike dogs. And are less smelly.

Airedale Terrier
They are sweet and friendly dogs with a good sense of playfulness. We had one called ‘Besem’ (because their heads look like a broom). I remember the day we went to pick him up on the farm, he was loaded into the back of the bakkie with me. I nearly shat myself he was so big, but I outgrew him in the end.
Rhodesian Ridgeback
Excellent protectors. No-one can touch you if you have one of these around. We had one called ‘Daisy’. We used to sing the Hal song to her. Also fun and playful but beware, it can playfully wrestle you to a near death.

word. mutts live the healthiest, happiest lives. Our mutt beagle/hound mix lived past the age of 15, and got sick once his whole life. My friend's pedigree Basset Hound, on the other hand, got an ear infection almost every single year, and had other problems, too. In the end, it was his sickness that killed him, not old age.

the most cunning dog in our neighbourhood came about as a result of the illegitimate union between a Dachshund and a Jack Russell. surprisingly. elusive is right, dogs need space. ideally they need complete freedom, they know where they live, though they may run away if you are a shitty owner. they are domesticated after all.

Elusive, i live in Florida, so exposing a husky dog would just be a bit cruel for this kind of weather.
i also live in an apartment but i really like the bigger breeds. a small dog would be better but i can't stand those little yappy dogs like pugs and chiwahwahs.

i agree that you should just get a cat. they are super clean animals. also they pretty much take care of themselves.don't get a litter box cause they will do there stuff outside, and the box is just inconvient and smells bad.
also pedigree dogs have about half the expected lifetime as mixed breeds. because all the inbreeding leads to genetic disease.
the chinese were the first to breed traits into or out of dogs. then the monarchs and aristrocrats of europe really did some major damage to poor little doggies.
whatever you do don't buy a dog or cat, go to your local rescue centre or check for free pups or cats notices at your grocery store.

It's a shame you're allergic to cats man. =(
Dogs are cool too, though- never had one, but they are cool animals, from what I have seen of my friends' animals and stuff.
What about a Collie? They are cute as fuck and quite intelligent!
Just don't get a golden retreiver- so docile and boring. Unless you're blind, then I guess it is a good dog to have.

i'm allergic to cats, and its easy to stay away from trouble. don't get any spit on you(thats gonna be the worst), wipe off any hair from your clothes afoter touching or holding a cat. if you get any hair on your face, DO NOT use water, that will only help the bad stuff get into your pores. brush hair off your face with some dry fabric. dogs are great, but lots of work, its like having a kid

dear diary,
the worst thing about living in a suburb is the howling and barking of confined dogs. they sound so completely unhappy, being cooped up in the backyard all day. when their owners finally take them for a walk they get so fucking excited it's almost pathetic. they're unsure about their territory and don't get to see other dogs very often so they become aggressive and get into fights. granted, dogs can be aggresive due to other reasons but i believe this confinement doesn't help much. personally, i've never had the full responsibility of taking care of a dog, don't think i'd want to anytime soon. whenever i've had look after people's dogs my worry levels increase significantly. i feel like i must entertain them 24/7 or else i'm being neglectful. i anthropomorphise them too much. i can't take the stare of what i perceive to be an emotionally troubled dog.

you should get a 'portuguese water dog' 'cause they can dive better than any dog breed.
so if you dive a lot you should get a portuguese water dog to dive with you.
but if you don't dive you probably shouldn't get this breed.
thank you.
