you know these earbuds and headphones with a ridiculous amount of bass really give a wrong picture of the music you're listing too.
it supresses all the other elements of the music because it boosts the bass just too much.
it's also is very tiring for your ears. not to mention very bad because it puts allot of pressure on the ears.
headphones with a more "neutral" sound are way more comfortable to listen to music with.
I have these. LAZY_TITLE
a bit old skool; but very nice sound and comfortable. earbuds never really do it for me.

I do not like putting things in my ears and the less invasive in-ear things always fall out of my ears. Instead, I have a pair of these and I love them: LAZY_TITLE.
The fact that Amazon are selling them for £12 is amazing. I might buy another pair at that price. Great headphones. I suggest you get a pair and compare them to the skullthings. Have a look at the reviews here: LAZY_TITLE. I appreciate they are not in ear, so it's like comparing a bike to a car, but for £12 it will be one of the best purchases of the decade.

can't tell what model but bose makes some good monitors.
skullcandy has headphones for half the price of your earbuds and they are much better sound quality.
earbuds are not good for music listening or making.
personally i keep a pair of sony and a pair of yamaha monitor headphones plugged in so i can hear the small diffrences

i still want a new pair of earbuds to replace ipod ones. i know they're not as good as headphones, but when walking around and out about, there's no denying earbuds are way more convinient and suitable..

i bought a pair of skullcandy ear buds to use for my train commuting. used to use a lower end pair of sennheisers, which sound much better but i got tired of carrying around. the skullcandy buds really do sound pretty good with the right EQ settings, and are extremely convenient to throw in your pocket. they come with three sizes of rubber buds for different ear sizes.
my lady got me on them, overall i'm really pleased with their performance and portability. hate the name though.

I hate to sound like an elitest prick, but after using world class headphones (shure e4g's for personal use and senn hd650s for everything else) for over 5 years now, i really couldn't go back to cheap technics or whatever.
big boomy bass response is fun initially, but a flat, neutral sound is key to long and comfortable listening sessions. besides, you can pickup a pair of hd650s for about £150 now if you know where to look and i assure you, they'll be the best audio purchase you could ever make.

hd555s are excellent too especially if you dont want to be faffing around with expensive headphone amps.

Yeah forget the techs if you're used to expensive ones. I was just pointing out that if you only use crappy £3 in ear jobbies, spend £12 and get some great ones. Bang/buck for RPF200 is very high, but compared to £100+ cans they will sound like crap.
My biggest problem with the Seinheisers is they all seem to:
look crap, or be supra-aural (sit on ears), or have open backs :(
Anyway, my black technics cans match my decks so I couldn't possibly change them!

skullcandy = wesc - trendy headphones, lots of bass and absolutely worthless if you are serious about music.

i totally agree with most of the comments here, yes there are way better headphones than skullcandy. i was responding with my reaction to using them during my everyday commute.
that said, yes they have an immense amount of (unnecessary) bass. i would prefer my senn's over these ANYDAY if they weren't a bulky hunk of plastic and wire to carry around during my commute.
the skullcandy headphones just fit so easily in the pocket and block out almost all external noise on the train. AND sound relatively good in such a situation.

My girlfriends mum got me these for Christmas. I'd never heard of them before yesterday. They're ok for the price. Not a patch on my sennheisers but I wouldn't expect them to be and those things never leave my desk any way. Better than the ones that came with my phone so they'll do for portable use. Just a shame they make me look like even more of a cunt.

Ugh. Bose, Skullcandy, et al... stay away from them!
I've gone through about 15-20 pairs of high-end headphones throughout my life, and my best results have been with AKG, Beyer-Dynamic, Sennheiser (if you have a good enough amplifier for them), and Grado (if only for listening purposes, not for performance).
Unless of course you really don't care what they sound like and just need them for commuting - then get whatever the fuck you want.

i bought a AKG akg K601. pretty happy with it. but not something you can plug in your mp3 player. I use them for music production since I don't have good speakers yet.

True- the massive jack is not at all suitable for MP3 playas. (I have K-701)
Not even for my laptop, really! :(
Fuck, but what a satin smooth sound! :D
AKG all the fucking way! Wish I had enough money to try out Grado reference grade cans, though... :(

Wouldn't earbuds be more armful since they are closer to your ear drums? That stuff always scared me off since I already get a lot of noise in absolute silence even though I know that's a natural reaction.
