Does this stand any chance of taking away the original's crown of best game of all time? I'd say extremely slim, based on the reasoning in this picture.

deus ex was one of my favourite games. despite extremely shit AI, the rest of the gameplay dynamic was great.
deus ex 2 had a stupid fuggy plot and made it too arcade like. they watered down a lot of what made the 1st so good and it was a good game nonetheless but not a patch on the original
this is going to be a bit wee, i suspect.

I heard they're basically taking away the RPG aspect, stats and character building aren't a factor now. So I can't see how it could match the original, but if they get the story and atmosphere right, it could still be a good game. And I'm 100% sure the environments won't be as tiny and limited in DX3 as they were in DX2, and that's a big step in the right direction. Man DX2's level design was boring.
I'm more interested in Thief 4, whenever it's revealed. Unlike Deus Ex 2, Thief 3 was a great game with interesting ideas that could be really awesome with modern hardware (The City).

Deus Ex, about 1/3rd of the way in and forward was really, really good. I havent played DX2 but I've been told to avoid it anyway. What really draws me to DX3 are these visuals... I want to play it NOW!

I know I should be happy any time another game from a good series is being made, but god damn, do we really need another once great FPS/RPG stripped down? System Shock 2 was one of the best games ever... now look at Bioshock. :(

Bioshock wasn't a terrible game by any means, but I think most people who've played SS2 will agree with me that it's a pretty big let-down.

If done right, it could work. Taking away arbitrary limitations on what your character can and can't do based on stats definitely doesn't doom the game to shoot'em-up hell. It's still seems it's going to have augs, gadgets, stealth, non-lethal/melee, influencing the world via NPC interaction, etc. There's such a thing as too much streamlining, they just have to find a happy medium.

read this thread before judging. there is so much misinformation out there at the moment that it is quite sickening to read, especially since the preview doesn't even tell us much.
oh and deus ex is my favourite game of all time.

I'm playing Deus Ex right now. Could anyone tell me where I can find the leader for the Mole People? Supposedly he's in the south end of a tunnel, and you have to push a brick behind two cardboard boxes. I have no ideas where these are, and it seems I've been looking everywhere...

Is this the part you're talking about? It's in the shelter kind of thing with the hole in the wall. The brick is behind the boxes and close to the floor.

Yes, finally found my way through! Thanks Brisk and Ophecks! It's appreciated! :)
I like this game alot, so far. I've had this game for a couple of years , but I've never had quite the computer power to be able to play it. Obviously nowadays it plays just fine (with a new laptop and all), but I've never really had the opportunity to play it till now.
People rant at Deus Ex: Invisible War, is it really THAT bad as people make it up to be?

I liked it a lot, though I didn't play the first one before. When I finally installed the original, I was thrown away by the cheesy story and couldn't finisch it. The only game that treated our modern myths more clumsily was Fahrenheit.

Invisible War just felt more subtle and real to me. The only terrible things that I remember were the miniscule size of the locations and the wax faces of the characters that were characterictic of the engine used (same thing with Thief 3). Also, the physics were very much off, but at least they were there and you could get used to it.

IW isn't AS bad anymore, because todays computers can actually run it. I remember downloading the demo and struggling to sustain 20fps, even on a top of the range PC at the time.
Be sure to use those updated texture packs and HUD tweaks and the game is nowhere near as bad as people make out.

According to gamefaqs, if you want to play around with cheats, you'll have to install a patch, press 'T' (as in 'Talk'), and type in your cheats. So I installed a patch called "deusexpatch1014f", and tried to press 'T' in-game ... and nothing happens. I'm completely lost when it comes to things like this. Is it the wrong patch? Am I doing wrong? Help appreciated!

Even messed around in the systems-folder (as requested at gamefaqs), changed 'T=' into 'T=Talk' in notepad, but nothing, nada, nill, void, nothingness, emptiness, whateverness. 'T' doesn't give a damn about what I want it to do... it just smiles at me with an evil grin.

i thought aliens vs predator from 99 was closer to system shock than bioshock later was.
any game developed successfully about being alone with almost nothing, with distinct arbitrary atmosphere around, is more or less similar in my opinion.

I think i'm going to have to replay invisible war, this time with those textures and updates. I never did finish the game the first time around, I remember getting fairly far and sort of losing interest, but I've been aching for a solid FPS/RPG to play.
