yeh it's pretty amazing, come back to it every few months or so... spirit of eden is also great but there seems to be this terrible tradition of muso journalists wanking themselves silly over the Holy Rock Masterpiece (much like loveless i suppose), laughing stock is much darker and better and stuff

spirit of eden is ace as well, but i think their sound culminated with laughing stock.
talk talk's two last albums have been lumped in the 'post rock' genre when, in fact, nothing in music sounds like them to this day.
mark hollis' solo album (lead singer from talk talk) from 1999 is also a recommendation. it's beyond music, and threads into new ground. fucking a.

Haha, a mate just bought this as well.. must be the zeitgeist of fashion bringing them back from the place they should never have been brought back from. Soon, Kurt Nilsen and Espen Lind will make a cover of one of their songs and then we will all die a slow sonic death.

fighting windmills, are we?
fashion? oh come the fuck on.
you seem to be reading more music magazines than actually LISTENING to music.
calm the fuck down. you have an elitist point of view on music (as evident in 'the field' thread).

Well, fashion is fashion. It has never degraded anything, and a fashion is indeed constituted by the emergence of a trend.
I haven't read a music magazine since.. well, since before The Source went all crap.
The Field thread? What was that? The one with the argument over quality in music? Try reading the entire thread again.

instead of referencing to friends or whatever, what about stating your own opinion on this album?

Haha, you almost took me too seriously there (but read the field thread again; you got it all wrong).
About the album, I thought it was nice, or rather, soothing, at first, but then it all just dissolved into a sort of repetitive mush, so I didn't like it.

I like the roots that start appearing in "Colour of Spring".. well obviously the roots were in the band from the begining, but Colour of Spring is a fascinating (and just plain great) album that bridges thier (again, great) pop past and sees them heading towards even vaster places.
I don't mind too much the muso journos banging on about Spirit of Eden or Laughing Stock, I think as many people should have them both (hell, and Colour of Spring) in their collection.
I still far prefer "Isn't Anything" to "Loveless" (which I do find rather loveless, tee hee), though.

Yes, an excellent CD. Easily in my all-time fave list. A shame it was their swan song.
The Mark Hollis solo CD was also very good.
