Short story, I come from the town these guys are from. Population 60,000. Anyway these guys were on sub pop when Nirvana was huge, and like the whole town was indy (not fag indy but like, I wear sweaters and smoke a pack of cigarettes a day and have 20 bands indie.). It drove me nuts because I was really into industrial and couldn't truly merge with anyone. The town stopped being indy right around the time internet was getting domestic and now they kind of got that Call center bad ass look. The new indy has the soul purpose of selling clothes in my opinion. I wouldn't even know where to start judging the music because I'm too old to know whats cool anymore. All I know is that these kids who have fairly shitty service jobs seem to be blowing their rent on really high ticket rare shirts and crazy cell phones. |
