all that I read here was near to saying it was shit

well I must say i completely disagree

I know clark is not really loved here, he is taken as an bad
aphex imitator

well,... I always disagreed with that and also enjoyed most
of his work... maybe never really got ultra excited with
boddy riddle despite of the first great impression.... but
turning dragon is absolutley gorgeous

it sounds diferent, it sounds old and new at the same
time... its playful, fat and strong sounding

love it

one of the albums of 2008 for sure

excellent no matter what the big heads of xltronic say

I like Clark, and don't think he's an aphex imitator. I like
most of his stuff, but I'm not too keen on his latest album,
but I like See See from the ep and Penultimate Persian.

I doubt mp3 could stand the vinyl experience

I do like it, apart from that filtered whiney thing on track
4 that's REALLY LOUD and ruins the beautiful pads during the
second half. And then it all goes distorted, which is quite
fun I guess.

it's pretty terrible.

I still love Clark though, Empty The Bones is a great, great
album. This was just a really rough patch for him imo. He'll
come back strong.

"all that I read here was near to saying it was shit"

True, Clark bashing happens a lot here but I remember one of
the last threads which actually was more positive than
negative. There were much more postive replies than ever
before.

The problem here is that a big part tend to express what and
how much they don't like a certain release/artist rather
than what they do like. That's most likely why Clark
has such a negative vibe over here.

I still prefer Body Riddle over Turning Dragon, TD still
needs to sink in I guess.

I adore his earlier albums, especially the first two.
Turning Dragon seemed too distorted and industrial (?) to my
taste, but I certainly didn't hate it, and I feel some
potential there. But there's a layer of off-putting
filtering to the album that really distracts me.

i love this album - one of the best in 2008 imho. think it's
a complete grower...

Clark is one of my favorite electronic artists and he is
very original. However, this is his worst album. Doesn't
even feel like an album to me, which is very UN-Clark like.
I look forward to seeing what he does next. Hopefully, he
will continue along the ETBOY and Body Riddle path.

I also agree that clark is MUCH better on a soundsystem
because of his production style. I always like his
production style up until Turning Dragon where I thought he
went a little overboard.

i wouldnt go as far as saying he'll come back strong,
considering the release of the album was bundled with
comments that absolutely had to make it clear that these
were tracks he wrote the tracks during body riddle but didnt
fit.
as much as im sure its brilliant for some people, it just
doesnt click for me. and im guessing that was expected with
some fans.

DRAGON was my first Clark purchase and I love it.

Something about the music on the CD reminds me of the joy I
experienced listening to classic Warp releases like HARD
NORMAL DADDY and RDJ ALBUM, without sounding like either.

I'm NOT happy with how the sounds were mixed though. The
music has a very dry, scratchy quality pushed too far into
the extreme. Almost all the elements sound like they were
being pushed into red zone volume. It sounds awful on
headphones, but through a decent speaker system it fares a
bit better.

i like TD, and i wonder if he did something so
different partially because of people calling him
derivative. Body Riddle did reference some popular idm
styles, but i think it was still really good and he has
enough of his own signature that he he more than stands on
his own. TD isn't quite a perfect album, and i have issues
w it too but i think it was a cool idea and when it is good
its really good.

The amped out industrial rave thing almost goes back to
something like some older download or noise unit. I think
it is a cool sound and doesn't sound like the same old same
old.

Also I'm quite pissed off that I missed him live in Belgium
a couple of weeks ago. People must move like mad men on
things like New Year Storm.
