New Autechre EP out now!

Am I the only one who has discovered this...?

Out new this week is a digital-only companion EP for
Quaristice. This EP is only available in Japan's i tunes
store (at the bottom of the home page of the i tunes browser
there is a drop down menu to select stores from different
countries).

Here are the track details with track lengths...

1. IO (mons) (7:40)
2. 90101-51-4 (7:40)
3. Blyz Castl (5:36)

I haven't downloaded any of these tracks yet, I've only
listened to the 30 second samples.

"IO (mons)" sounds like it might be the exact same version
that appears on the limited edition Quaristice, although
it's running time is about 12 seconds shorter.

"90101-51-4" is a remix of Quaristice's "90101-51-1", but
sounds closer to "90101-61-01" from the limited edition.
Confused? At 7:40, it's the longest version yet.

"Blyz Castl", as you can guess, is a twist on "Bnc Castl"
from the standard Quaristice release. From the sample at the
store it sounds NOTHING like the original!

Not bad for my first post, dontcha think?

thanks, rad smiles. I tried purchasing the tracks using my
iTunes account, but it keeps bumping me back to the US
store. Does any Xltronic readers have an iTunes Japan
account?

sorry for everyone expecting something more exciting, BUT my
topic title was accurate and truthful. At least two of the
three tracks are new from my guess.

So what's the deal with Japan getting all the exclusive
extras anyway? First, they get the bonus track on their
standard Quaristice (which, interestingly, is not available
at the Japanese iTunes), and now this EP.

I wish this was commercially available to everyone around
the world.

Marketing BS like always, for thousands of years, there have
been european only cds/singles and jap xtra tracks, not to
mention other countries

Th3ere are even Canadian singles, for the northerners

But why is really that way, ive never understood, even in my
high school years, never really got it.

don't hold yer breath, futureimage. Bleep has still yet to
put "nu-Nr6d" (the bonus track on the standard Quaristice)
up on the site.

Beatink Records, which jointly releases AE's music in Japan
with Warp, must have some exclusive contract to acquire
these tracks.

Good point...

Any reason why out of all countries, JAPAN is the one
notorious for expensive music imports, bonus tracks, etc.
etc.

so who is here from Japan? They should buy it. Burn and
re-rip to remove DRM & convert, and then share it w all of
us.

If it gets released domestically at some point, then i will
gladly pay the $3-5 for the EP.

A little disappointed there isn't more....But I contacted a
Japanese person and asked him to hook me up. All new I-tunes
stuff is DRM free I believe. In America at least. Hope it is
the same in Japan.

With the inclusion of the new "Bnc Castl" on this EP, and
another version of "90101-51-1" you'd think there were more
material from Autechre from the Quaristice sessions to make
a proper companion EP.

It'd be cool if the cover for this EP had the same
typography design as the LP, but perhaps a green or red
bkgd. Ah, I'm just dreaming now...

ok,
the first track is from special edition-as we all know.
the second track is a mash up from album and the special
version- quiet intresting
and the third is something new - i'm not sure about that
huge background reverb- is it from theswere or what it is.

the 2008 tour is more intresting to me, should I say better
of any steril Quaristice album tracks.

after hearing this previews my focus will stay on unborn
soundboard release.

But definiately this is today's headline news!

Rapidshare or megaupload this shit. Apple are cunters for
restricting the release like that and deserve to be ripped
off by as many as possible.

I prefer to buy CD's than pay for lossy digital media
anyway.

I just thought of an idea. Release an album under the name
of a popular artist only have each letter a weird character
from another language that only appears like the english
letters of that artist's name to avoid copyright
infringement.

I can't fucking sit through IO or IO (mons), absolutely the
worst track on the album... and I like the album, and yet
everyone seems to like IO or IO (mons), I must be fucking

Yeah, the repeat of IO (mons) is the most disappointing part
of the EP. Wasn't there an alternate "Simmm" or "WNSN" they
could've used instead?

"because Simmm and WNSN are good?"

I mentioned those two tracks above because they are among
the ones without an alt version yet.

I love Simmm, and WNSN is ok. Both are a lot better than
90101-51-1 or bnc Castl, which are two of my least faves on
the standard Quaristice.

Actually, an extended "fwze" might be nice.

I'm listening to IO (mons) right now. Even though I hated IO
at first, now I just can't get enough of it.

I had my friend listen to a little bit of the song and he
said "I'm sorry Evan, but thats just plain scary".

anyway, Blyz Castl does sound to be pretty amazing. I would
love it if iTunes made it so that you could easily switch
stores.

what I was trying to say is that there probably aren't as
many versions of tracks like Simmm because they are more
'complete' or 'better' tracks than the others?

Hmm, that might be true, Exaph. Perhaps the tracks without
alt versions were ones they nailed down without having to do
much messing about. It seems those happen to be some of my
faves on the standard Quaristice.
