Mine was seeing the On video on The Chart Show (remember
that?) in 1994. I think they fixed the chart that week just
so they could show the video! I was really fucked up around
that time and hearing that for the first time felt so good.
It reminded me (and I needed to be reminded) that life is
worth living after all. I also heard Polynomial-C around
that time too but didn't even realise it was Aphex Twin
until a few years later!

I believe it was sophmore year in high school. I was at a
friends house when he informed me that the guy who lived
across the street from him (a freshmen in college) had in
his posession some high-quality lsd that we could purchase.
So, we went over there to make the buy. We went over there,
bought the acid, and dropped. He had some friends over, and
they were all listening to some good electronic music. We
hung out over there, smoking weed and talking to them (they
were all already tripping). About an hour later, another
guy came over, with a video. They were all really exited,
saying ohhhhh man this is gonna be awsome and it's finally
in. They but in the video and turned off the lights, and
there I had my first viewing of Come to Viddy, while
peaking.

My mind has yet to recover.

back in 1998 when i went to vancouver to see my cousin.
i was already into dnb+downtempo stuff at the time.

but we were downtown and my cousin's friend, adam, picked up
a cd (i think it was surfing on the sinewaves).
i asked him about the it and said that it was aphex twin
under a different name, and i'm like 'uhhh, cool'.
but then he played me some stuff and i'm like whoa!!

then i came back and got into the idm scene.

the end!

Heliosphan was what hooked me... a friend sent it to me and
I was like, "AWESOME!!!!"

Come to Daddy was the very first song I heard, when I saw
the video on Muchmusic years ago, but it never hooked me...
Heliosphan did...

Bought Kid A, read a review and an interview that mentioned
some guy named ''The Aphex Twin'', and I got curious and
downloaded Windowlicker last Christmas. It was fucking
awesome... second track I got was Cornish Acid, and THAT
really hooked me.

i constantly listened to nin's further down the spiral and
really liked the track "at the heart of it all". about a
year later, when i took the time to read who remixed each
track, i was shocked to see that the track in question was
made by someone who went by the name of "aphex twin"... i
decided to try one of his albums and bought rdj album. i
hated it at first because it was my first contact with "idm"
and i thought it was weird. after a couple of months, i was
hooked!

A friend borrowed me the first Mayday Compilation with Aphex
Twin's Metapharstic on it. I listened to that track and
thought that this quite dark and evil music.

I saw Come To Daddy on MTV...I never heard anything like
it...later I found out that I, a couple a years earlier,
almost bought "RDJ Album" just because it was on sale and
the coverart looked funny...i think that if I had bought
"RDJ Album" at that time of age, it would have changed my
future... I often regret not buying the album...but hey...I
was a kid...

i saw it on mtv, too. they used to have this show called 12
angry viewers and they reviewed come to daddy. i think my
friend was sort of all ready into it and let me borrow
icbyd.
