A day early! and couldn't be happier with the way this
sounds so far.

good luck with that. I'm not feeling it in the least bit.

the last track sounds allright.
the rest...I don't know. it sounds so overly compressed and
difficult to listen to.
the melodies or whatever are way to loud compared to the
beats.

it has, like, normal beats, which is not bad. and the mixing
is, well, what you expect of him.

not bad for a clark album though. i'm just not a big fan.
dunno. perhaps it should sink in a little more.

everyone complains about that typical clark mixing (and
rightly so). the man must have a hearing-disorder for not
improving it. or he's incredibly stubborn.
i wonder whether the vinyl-edition sounds (slightly) better

its just supposed to sound like that I love it that way and
he got his own mixing style and sound wich is good....no one
could make a "clark" fake I suppose...I think hes very good
when it comes to making a nice sound and production...dont
like 4 to floor beats tho so what I think about this album
you can go figure

Not bad for Clark. It's deffinately worth 3-4 listens.

the sound is pretty garbage, at least he should learned to
compress well. the compositions too. i know he's got some
talent in there (guitar solo is still one of my favorite
'idm' tracks), but recently his sound just gets on my
nerves.

it needs time to sink in. there's a lot of depth there and
some fine tunes, but only apparent after 6 or 7 plays.

new year storm and volcan horn are really nice the rest of
it is pretty generic and boring.

Have the whole album and it's pretty fucking good. I used to
not care much about his music, but recently I gave Body
Riddle more listens and it's pretty damn good. I like his
style, and I like the new album. After more listens perhaps
I'll even start loving it.

I'm not keen on this at all, and I normally defend his
music. But I suppose it would work well on dance floors.

New year storm and Fourwolve crew best tracks//

I read somewhere that these are his revisitations to his old
hardcore raver tracks he did. so the compression makes a
little sense there. I still like them theyre fun to drive
to.

Body Riddle only had Ted, Roullette thrift run & Herr bar

Clark is very hit or miss. the only full release I like
every track on is Empty the Bones of You

i almost thought they'd be perfect for dancefloor. but then
half the tracks fall into that synth only outro thing that
clark does so often (on body riddle).
so it sounds like its meant to be listened to at home, but i
dunno. i can't work it out :P

i guess it's the lack of dynamics that is the concern (what
(isnieZot said) - like pumping up a ballon beyond what it
can take... "dancefloor" whateva, please - dancetracks can
use a bit of dynamics anyway...

offline chambre noire from Iceland on 2008-01-28 03:49 [#02168200]

The first track is very good, the rest? Well.. Kind like his
other records but with more simple beats.. Nothing too
catchy and interesting though.

"Body Riddle only had Ted, Roullette thrift run & Herr bar"

Well, I think some of the other tracks were rather
beautiful, too, even if they weren't us upbeat as those
three. I'd personally rather have stuff more akin to the
more ambient and/or intricate moments of "Body Riddle" and
"Empty the Bones of You" than this mindless rave/synthy
stuff.

i've found this to another place.

The first picture shows "Frau Wav from Body Riddle, from a
Vinyl source".
The second shows " Frau Wav from the CD source after an
idiot mastering engineer has hit it with a Waves L2/3
limiter."
The third "And, finally, this is a track from the new CD...
Notice any difference from the original (non limited) vinyl
body riddle example??"

that overcompression is stupid. this is probably the only
reaasn i don't listen to body riddle more often because it
just exhausts my ears to fast

I like some ambient but it drains me. makes me sleepy. I
work an 11 hr day not including the drive. Ive got no real
need for ambient. I dont have much need for ravey synths.
but clarks freestyle transitions amuse the shit outta me//

Just made this my first CD purchase in ages. Starts off not
that great, second track Volcan Veins grates a bit, but it
improves dramatically to become a decent album.

Yeah. I would never be against the idea of him doing a
dancefloor-ish album per se - I still enjoy a lot of
breakbeat/dance/whatever pieces of musics. But this is just
a bit nothing. It's Meh.

it feels somehow 'empty' to me, there's really not much to
enjoy, except for the beats, but we've heard them many times
before.

Haha! It's a shame as he's obviousley put a lot of effort
in, probably in the wrong places but that's putting your
music out there. You should give him a clip around the ear
and sort him out.

The guy can sure pull out some nice drum sounds, though.
They've got a real "thwak!" to them.

He is in no way a "bad" producer - well, apart from the
mastering, which is more extreme here than it's ever been (I
don't think "Empty the Bones of You" suffers as much). This
album is just a bit more like a little prick of spit than a
full globule of healthy mucus spit.

offline jules from United States on 2008-01-30 14:43 [#02169505]

yea, im a huge supporter/defender of his...but i think this
record is off the mark. for me at least. i dont like the
rave/techno/whatever sound at all, so this doesn't do much
for me. it also doesn't help that quaristice came out a day
after this.

thing i hate most about clark is when he pops on when i am
listening to my ipod on shuffle and it scares the shizzle
out of me and my speakers. ugh.
