Never tried that version, but try going into
/Options
/Audio settings
/Directsound properties
And turn it up...

yes, sorry, i'm familiar with this (though i don't know what polling is, but use my soundcards asio normally, because it's louder and faster and better)
i kicked out some channels (selected 'switch smart disable for all' in macros as well) but it didn't seem to help much
i fiddled around just a little bit, and came to the conclusion this version uses more cpu. i guess this is normal for a newer version
i'm just wondering wether someone has an estimate of how much more heavy it could be..

hm at least i can load a lot more vsti with asio4all instead of the default audio driver.
did you correctly set up your audio driver as it was in fl6?

I have no idea why it should consume more CPU. Logically, it should have some feature, that it uses all of the time.
I cant really help you, as i'm still spitting out hits on my FL studio 5

you're right at that too
i think i have pretty much the same setup, i'll try some more tomorrow
i have tried that asio4all cx (and the fist time i got a blue screen of death :(
but it seems the asio of my m-audio firewire is better

My guess is, that the default of some weird setting is higher than the old versions, and therefore consumes more CPU. Not much concrete help!

Yeah I've noticed FL7 is more hungry for CPU than FL6 but I use Orion Platinum which is lighter on the CPU than any version of FL specially with CPU heavy VST's.

Are you using the version 7 stable or the 7.4 beta 2?
In options / audio untick safe overloads. Interpolation should be either linear or 6 point hermite. Linear uses less CPU but on any reasonably modern computer you should be able to use 6 point hermite, which sounds better for repitching things in the sampler channels.
In options / general untick ultrasmooth visual feedback and smooth scrolling.
Are you getting crackling and dropouts?

hi i didn't know safe overloads should be off image line told me to get this: http://www.tucows.com/preview/209204, the file is called flstudio7_RC6b.exe, so i don't know what version it is exactly.
i installed fl 6 now as well so i'll use that a bit longer, wouldn't mind getting fl 5 as well but i don't know where to get that.

fl6 is running lousy as well i changed the location of 'my documents' from another disk to the same disk as my c:\, but on another partition i made, maybe that screwed up my windows, though i wouldn't understand why
i'm now running a virusscan

Look at the buffer size of the m-audio ASIO driver. What is it set to now? Try setting it to 512, see if it's stable, then set it lower and see how that works, until you get the best latency / stability balance.
The other option is to set it as low as it can go in the M-audio ASIO driver control, then use ASIO4All as the driver in FL, and do the same as above - set ASIO4ALL to 512 and see if it can go lower.
Are there other sound cards active in your computer? Like a Realtek onboard chipset or something? It can help to disable any other sound card in the Windows device manager.

maybe i didn't use this on out of two reverbs when playing it live to myself though and that was the whole thing

How fast is your 'puter? What model of chip? Intel pentium D? Celeron? Core duo? Pentium M in a laptop?
And for the last time: WHAT IS YOUR BUFFER SIZE SET TO?

it's a intel pentium 4 3 ghz with ht technology and 800 cache
i have two gig of ram and the pagefile set to 2 to 4 gig the asio is set to 2048 samples, that's the highest, that prevents underruns right?

that made the sound disappear.. also just with foobar i guess that makes no sense
i've cleaned my system this week and have removed the fan from the cpu and put it back, but i didn't have the glue, maybe it's running less good now, though it's not overheating notably

Your problems are always so intractable. Try bothering them at the official support forum. Maybe you can get Gol to tell you that you're an idiot and your computer is made out of fried chicken.
