I would guess the processing requirement for this would not
be insignificant...It's very good but I doubt this sort of
thing could be utilised in the current generation.

can you rephrase that into something more comprehensible for
stupid people like me?

It'll come as standard with the Wii 2.

i don't see why it couldn't be. at the end of the day it's
the same tracking inputs from the wiimotes as in other
games, just used the other way around. It would just depend
on the render times for the graphics, most of the which on
the wii are quite basic compared to ps3. i'm sure any of the
consoles available now would be capable of running a game
using this idea, the hard part for developers would be
convincing the public to buy more hardware in the form of a
sensorbar headset.

It's more than just a case of being the other way round. I
guess the ps3 and xbox360 would probably have enough grunt
but I don't think the Wii would without some major
compromises to already basic graphics.

why do you think it requires more processing is just
calculating angles and perspectives. the n64 could do that.

offline OK on 2007-12-26 19:55 [#02158146]
Points: 4791 Status: Lurker

i mean it's no different than changing the camera angle with
the right analogue stick and zooming in out.

wow, thats really cool.
i was also impressed that when he mentioned nintendo wii
game designers, he didnt mention money or anything like
that, but just for games using that technology :D what a gun

You can move your head a lot quicker than a controlled
camera angle change. It might not be a big deal, plus it
would be nice to see a few games take advantage of this sort
of thing.

I couldn't believa what a stupid thing they'd made with the
technology that went into the wii remote anyway, it's such a
minimal step forward. This thing is the shit however

offline pigster from melbs on 2007-12-27 00:54 [#02158162]
Points: 4480 Status: Lurker

yeah.
i know he's pretty much using the technology that they
developed, but i cant help but feel this is at least a
billion times better than anything nintendo have done in
regards to trying to make gaming more interactive.

gods, that's versatile. Wii will make you smile.

That original idea (by that asian american dude) has
potential all the same, potential that could lead to the
next Wii or, in an alternate and more likely future outcome,
the next Virtual Boy.

that is absolutely sick!

the effect when he's using the camera is unreal, id love to
see some games based on this tech.

a couple friends of mine were working on routing the wiimote
through max/msp, i wonder how far theyve gotten with that
endeavor.

offline lupus yonderboy from 1970. (United Kingdom) on 2007-12-27 17:01 [#02158337]

you can get wiimotes into max pretty easily with
this. Accelerometer data isn't the most useful
musically but it's ok for triggering hits when it passes a
threshold. You can strip out the rotational data and that's
a bit more useful and controlled for mapping to musical
parameters. I've not tried it with the numchuk yet=/ you get
a fair bit of tech for your money in those controllers.

Sorry to lower the tone, but is there plans to make some
form of virtual reality ron jeremy game for the wii, where
you shake the controllers to spunk all over a ladies tittage
area or up her virtical bacon sandwich?

The same technology is already available for PC and some of
the functions are pretty nice. TrackIR. I'd love to
use this in racing games.

I sort of understand the concept behind this, but I don't
understand the theory. I might be technologically retarded,
or whatever, but I don't get it.

It looks cool though.
