it's still rather hard to find electronic artist's t-shirts, but you can find led zeppelin boxers at target. when they start selling autechre socks then I'll agree with you.

No no, you misunderstand. I was hassled by
a) a couple of dudes with a pickup truck,
b) missing front teeth,
and
c) Ryoji Ikeda t-shirts.
The missing front teeth were the scariest, flitting around like big sharp ivory colored mosquitoes.

I tend to want to punch people that wear Metallica shirts... of course there's a lot of people I want to punch. Metallica shirt wearers do happen to be high on my list, though.
I still haven't ran into anyone wearing an Aphex Twin shirt, so I can say whether I'd want to punch anyone that wears one of those shirts. I probably do.

I have got an Aphex Twin t-shirt but most people assume it's the symbol of some spooky right wing cult. Which in a way it is, right kids?

I don't have an Aphex t-shirt and while I'd like to own one, I'd much rather spray-paint or 'throwie giant ones in public places (which I haven't done either).

i have an aphex twin tishirt but its really old and full of holes now. that's the black on white warpmart one. in highschool i printed my own aphex twin shirts with the rdj face and so on. i was such a fanboy. i still am, i guess. anyway, there's nothing wrong with sporting your favourite artist on your clothes, everyone has a right, even mindless metallica fans. i'd rather have the afx logo on my clothes than, say....the nike tick or whatever. many people have come up and starting talking to me because of my afx shirt. although you get tired of having the same old aphex twin conversations with strangers. kind of like tiring of the same old xltronic.com/mb aphex twin threads.

idm is a tradition in my household anyway, every year at thanksgiving, my mom and dad tell me stories of how they used to go out raving in the early 90s, off their faces on all kinds of drugs, then listen to some ambient shit to chill out. mom always stuffs the turkey with ecstacy tablets and acid blotters and the whole family bugs out to "higher state of consiousness" by winx.
good times.

in the street, shops, pubs, at gigs, raves etc.. you know, places where people socially gather. a foreign concept to some idm hermits.
'conversations about aphex twin' is maybe lending it a bit much. it usually consists of both parties just listing their favourite aphex twin album and going on about how much they think it rules.

I'm sure there's someone out there with RDJ face tattooed on his face. All I know is that even if he spends 30 years working on tracks in his mother's basement, ain't no label gonna release him, just cuz his face is retarded.

"like, ten years ago... ain't nothing new!" ten years before that it was the hot new thing too. depends how old you are.
imo the heydays of electronic dance music were a) with the advent of midi/digital about 1982 all genres of producers going mental. again around 1988, a coupkle of years after hip hop goin to the next level, with the acid house summer of love. perhaps to a lesser extent about 93-4 with techno/idm and jungle/drum and bass kicking off bigger time. by the time everyone got on the internet around 1996 things mostly went downhill, althought the highlights as high as previously. kinda depends how old you are and how much music you know, your perception. mayday/love parade that was huge round then. today, with communications as they are, somethings are old or traditional after about 3 days.
