reccomend headphones

between $100-$200

I'm looking for unparalleled crisp audio and excellent bass.
Bass is very important. I know for a fact that portability
raises the price of headphones. Portability is not
important, I don't want to comprimise sound quality for
portability.

Senheider is obviously some cheap ripoff brand of Sennheiser
and is not nearly as good in quality.

i have grado SR80's. The sound great and you have the added
bonus of looking like a 1960's radio technician when you
wear them.

I've had both Grado's and now Sennheiserzzz and I think it
depends on what you're looking for. The Grado's are
excellent for soundstaging and distinctness of sound, but I
think the 580's tend to be fuller and more warm. The bass
is MUCH better on the 580's I might add.

dont get the akg k501, i found out they lack bass
with lots of powering the problem isnt real obvious (i guess
that what it had when i tried them in the store)
when trying out i thought sennheiser sounded like crap
though

Ultrasone 650's are the best and most comfortable headphones
I've ever used. I just dumped my Sony 7506's for them. The
headphones are unique in that the sound is aimed at your
outer ear rather than directly into your ear. This pretty
much nullifies ear fatigue. I can where these things for
hours on end. The sound is of course, fucking amazing. They
create a surround sound almost. Definately give these a
listen if you can find them.

I have a pair of akg k141's, they're super nice monitor
headphones with excellent bass

sennheiser's also sound great, I have a pair of open ears
that but the cord on them broke

HD 265 linear... for people who take the bus... these are
the best for sound containment... plus they double as
earmuffs for those of us who live in cold cold places...

but really you should try them (on different systems too, or
on a system similar to yours)

£100 for a pair of headphones? you're out of your mind

not if you work on headphones almost exclusively. hearing
damage is irreversible. the decision to use cheap headphones
could affect your joy of music later in life. i have
tinnitus caused by composing, mixing and mastering using the
over-hyped Sony 7506's when i was making industrial and hard
trance. i believe they're 159 euro, but i don't suffer any
ear pain from the Ultrasone's i'm now using. the expense is
worth it for me, if it means my hearing loss is kept
plateaued. i certainly understand not wanting to spend a
great deal on headphones if you don't listen to music for
hours on end, day after day.

I have grado sr-80's too. I got them cause they have a 300
dollor sound for 100 dollars. They are the best in the price
range. I love them. They have a very delicate sound. It's
spooky the detials that come out. They don't color the
sound. They present the sound beautifully transparent.
Whether it can give good bass and treble response is a
non-issue. Of course. They are more than that, though. But
they kinda hurt. I wrapped an old winter hat around the head
part and tied it with rubber bands. Much better now.

on some headphones forum i read the grado's easily impress
beginning listeners but then you want sennheiser or akg, or
whatever. also they only deliver in the us

i've got a pair of Grado SR-60's and they are crafted by
angels in heaven, great sound. they aren't noise canceling
but the sound is crisp and the bass is super nice.

thanks for your reccomendations;

i am narrowed to the Sennheiser 650

expensive, but they seem like they will be suitable. i wish
stores would carry these. that way i'd be able to compare
in-store.

thanks!!!!!!!! opinions will still be appreciated
