Pro Radii sounds alarminly similar to Gescom's Tangle ILL off of ISS:SA.
Would autechre blatantly recycle sounds like that?
Augmatic Disport -> Gantz_Graf Pro Raii -> Tangle ILL
hmmmm....?

heh heh, I'm surprised they would make that mistake public though. Hmmm... Here's an honest question for you: You've heard the Untilted leak, yes? Whether you like or not, did you feel this record sounded vaguely remeniscent of others the first time you listened? I felt that way and it was the first time I ever had that happen with a new autechre release. Any opinions?

I felt that draft seemed to be them revisiting various points throughout their carreer in a noncronological order. This album seems to be a continuation of that. The same thing I feel with draft, is that they are seeming to have a bit more fun with stuff than they had in a while. Confield was much too serious and intellectual for its own good, and eventually worked itself into near nonsence, because too many ideas seemed to be expressed at once. This album doesn't seem to do that. Pretty much, if the leak is real, then it seems to be a worthy predicessor to draft.
Honestly, I wouldn't see it so much as a mistake. Maybe they sat down one day, listened to one of their gescom tapes, and said, "you know what we should have done here?...." Honestly, if I were in their shoes, I would probly do the same thing. Although, I haven't really listened to the leak enough to bridge them together. I am waiting for the album to come out, so I don't find myself bored of it and not wanting to buy it.

well said, though I might contest the point about Confield a bit. That one was my favorite and the most original I felt. (-_^)

Honestly, I think they kinda lost the handle with confield a bit... and they have got it back. I love track 2 and 7 in confield, but for the good part of the middle, its kind of just clompy beats. It kind of felt like they were just testing out their technology before they really understood it. The rumor is that they were just getting used to kyma with that one, and its mostly presets. If you listen to draft 7.30, you can hear that they kyma was strong in that, and it had extremely tangible themes, where confield doesn't so much (its one of the few autechre releases that don't, IMO).
I really like draft. It sounded as if they were just getting back to what mattered. Wanking with style.
(sorry, i am drunk. Hopefully this doesn't come off sounding too whack)

well not to bring it back full circle, but Draft did sound different than Confield, so that is a good thing. Still not feeling how Untilted is illustrating any type of progression though... :(

Confield was amazing. The control they excercised on that release was really good. Untilted which I have began listening to a lot because I couldn't wait for the official release (I am still getting the vinyl and CD though :P) is shaping up to be my favourite Autechre release ever. It is absolutely excellent.
I agree with hearing elements of other Ae/Gescom tracks, but for me that has enhanced the album, it's familiarity with a different edge. Augmatic does sound like a development of the Gantz Graf sound but that could just be down to the use of the same percussive samples they have used are similar.
As some of you will know Slow Acid was my favourite track of ISS:SA so having Iera is a massive bonus for me.
In fact this is the autechre album I have been waiting for. It's really sad in places. I dunno I just love it completely.

my opinion is that Draft 7.30 still kicks the shit out of Untilted (the mp3 version). I will of course buy the CD of Untilted which I hope will 'sound' better than the mp3 version. I think Ae's stuff is much better in the format intended anyway, i.e. CD's.

stop me if a) im being naive or b) im talking about leak 2 or c) im taling crap , but
although i love pro raadi the most from what ive heard of untilted, (for me i could access it much faster and with more satisfaction than most songs on the previous 2 albums), and to my ears it sounds fantastic; i honestly feel as if im on a journey when i listen to this. Yet doesnt anyone find the applause samples a bit un-ae like? i mean they hate the use of samples dont they? the music is about the opposite of sampling and always has been.
same with the little beat that comes in toward the end of augmatic disport (i think, on my version anyway) - just seems a little unlike ae. although these are the only two things that kind of betray the rest of the songs, at the same time i dont dislike these foibles.
however, i havent heard enough gescom, or dont have enough knowledge of ae's music making processes to confirm that the things i have mentioned dont add up. just thought you guys may be able to put me straight!
thanks.
