Listened to Music Has The Right To Children and Geogaddi
last night and I told myself to tell yall this: They're
still great.

I've only listened to geogaddi a few times, while I almost
destroyed MHTRTC because I listened to it so much.

geogaddi doesn't do much for me. a poor companion to the
great MHTRTC.

geogaddi is weak overall but has some very nice points.

mhartc has been my favorite record for a while. i found
geogaddi virtually unlistenable for the longest time, but
this past year i find myself listening to it more and more.
it suffers from a poor ordering of tracks and several
throwaway tracks, but -- as the curbcreeper said -- it has
some great moments.

that.

Geogaddi is a piss puddle.

MHTRTC is excellent.

I like geogaddi a lot more.

And also, i can see this degenerating into a "WHAT@S YOUR
FAVOURIIIITE BOC ALBUM WTF LOL" thread very rapidly. And i
am only adding to the problem.

Am I the only person to think Geogaddi isn't all that
different to MHTRTC and I don't know why people dislike it
so. It's like MHTRTC II, and there's nothing wrong with
that.

I think they compliment each other very well!

i think the only difference was the texture.

MHTRTC is kinda cold for me...dunno,but i like GEO better
than it.

and it's also a shame that ppl only talk about those two
albums.

that's kind of the point.

MHTRTC was a great record.

for years we don't hear anything coming from the BoC camp
except "In a beautiful place etc." EP.

for years people are wondering what they'll come up with.

and what do they come up with? a weak copy of MHTRTC. oh
great. thanks.

Hmmm, well I like pretty much everything they've done, i
like all the early eps, MHTRTC is lovley, Geogaddi is like
it's weird cousin but still on the same track. But I like
the track Zoetrope as well so that puts me in a camp of
about 1. I don't know, I don't mind them taking ages and
then coming up with the same thing, what else are they going
to do, Grime? BOC, I say, keep being BOC.

they could try evolving musically, trying out new things,
exploring.

I'm not into this music thing just to hear groups rehashing
the same stuff over and over.

Music has the right, well, isn't complicated enuff. I enjoy
the simplicity, but man ... too many shadows in geogaddi ;)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, i know what you mean, but i don't like the
idea of junking something because it works. I mean, some
people make a career out of the same thing, but BOC do one
properly released album and everyone aparently likes it but
wants them to change. Ambient music evolved from the 70s
(with roots doubtless in all sorts of sonic pioneers before)
to today... I don't know what I am on about, but Eno
produced lots of albums which are kind of similar sounding
but all fabulous, why can't BOC do MHTRTC IV and V, work
through it over time, don't expect the quantum leap album
after album. There's only one chap who can do that and it's
Dicky D Jamms. I LOVE HIM.

Telephasic workshop

i still don't understan how there has to be a "winner"

what about the next album

going to pittyyourself debating which one is better, then?

don't know how you can diss geogaddi, with dawn chorus

I'm surprised at these reponses. Geogaddi is chock full of
insane of amounts of detail. The background atmospheres are
amazingly crafted, and the melodies are great as usual.

boc can continue to produce the same variation on the same
formula until they die, because they're awesome. anyway,
they're just perfecting their music, and i don't agree with
people who act like you have to do something totally new and
different everytime out.

I like Geogaddi quite a bit.. however I find it interesting
that lots of BoC fans latch onto 'Julie and Candy' and 'Dawn
Chorus' as their favorite tracks. It's all subjective I
know, but honestly from day one these were my least favorite
tracks on the album. The production on the latter irritates
me. I'm not too fond of '1969' any more either. On the
flip side, tracks like 'sunshine recorder' and 'gyroscope'
are beautiful and innovative.. among their best.

Geogaddi <3

Music Has The Right to Childeren is okay I think, didn't
used to like it at all, probably because I heard Geogaddi
first. I don't get how people can love this and absolutely
hate Geogaddi, it's more of the same, but it's still great
stuff. Unlistenable? What???
