I lashed the dutch review into a translator and got dis: (i
love the mixture of dutch and english - is kool yes!)

In 1987, Steve Beckett and opened late rob Mitchell their
(independent) plate matter in Sheffield: Warp record.
Whereas Rick Astley top or the Pops were and fluorescent
clothing
still were possible, Warp found record feeding floor in the
elektronica which from
noord-Amerika happened after the birth of (acid)-house.
Geïnspireerd on the success of o.a. the English 808 State
aimed they in 1989, the plate label Warp to
record at young artists a platform offer. Elektronica which
flies along the dancing floor, but difficultly in a box is
place. On third desire rum the list artists (breathtaking)
is: o.a. Aphex Twin, Autechre, LFO, Plaid, Nightmares on
Wax, Squarepusher and boards or Canada. This Saturday had
Warp record carte-blanche in Paradiso.

Jimmy Edgar are 20 years, Detroit end up and are bubble
één grasp of music. Large become on o.a. 80-jaren hip
hops, jazz percussion and experimental music (Stockhausen)
has first full EP
with access Rhythm has been brought out on Warp. Whereas
these are characterised hip-hop beats from doosje, it goes
vanavond differently. Edgar have dragged an oviform turn
chair from the cellar of Paradiso
and sit with a rag top on its lap first the podium.
Knetterhard come outside Van Dijck-bruine drum n Bass from
the rag top
to. Violently flirting with noise, and cracks he clicks by
our bodies. Sigaretje are put up, biertje. At the end of its
set the poort goes wide open: terrorbeat with heavy grunts.
The first file and Jimmy Edgar themselves find it more than
okay. The rest of the room puts just as the cogs on each
other... arrrgh.

Beans have fans: Wrong (y) Kittin and Elliot, Radiohead,
Prefuse 73, Dj Shadow and Andy Wheaterall is but a couple of
people who
geïmponeerd became and has worked with Beans (aka Mr..
Ballbeam). Beans were confessed as a member of the New
Yorkse Anti headstock
consortium. To be mic-action are vanavond admirable. A not
ceasing

AND

Warp Dj's TOMs p, Ned and Phil are the specie of the
evening. They twist between the act by and let by rapidly
varied mixing a fresh
wind by the room to blow. Growling elektro, a
reggae-loopjereggae-loopje reggae-loopje, breaks,
windowlicker (duh!). Above Bart Skils (twist no Warp,
however, () well). He can twist for eight hours for which
something wants less violently
than Warp-speed: minimum and German.

The large room has been unloaded full: Plaid. Ed Hanley and
Andy turner is as from beginning years ninety busy. Firstly
still in Dark dog with know Downie, afterwards further as a
plaid. Deep-space elektronica in which melody is always most
important. Along the edges of the musical universum fly with
super-fresh
breakbeats in the boot. The Dark Side or pluto. Jazzy
syncopische rhythms, that slow logical do not become (or?),
whereas (sub)-bassen everywhere be to feel. Not not-ceasing
a flow of pulsative ideeÃ"n that against the
partitions roll away. The last album (Spokes) is milder than
the predecessors. But not less strongly: slowly advancing
onderwater melodieÃ"n that verse and living remain
on the driving beats (' Cedar city ': you snorkel a
cathedral within). In the meantime Leftfield-hard endure the
sound in Paradiso and
accompanied dikke hesitates digitised Michael Jackson, come
Prince and Grace Jones on the baffle past. At the end of the
set the robot shoots which stands for their noses to
life. If curious ventje twists and moves the robot with
cameras and fixes
the fingers and faces of the two men, that to see being on
the large baffle. The room absorbs everything and treats the
men on a large applause. Stanley Kubrick will have amused
itself (with ear capsules) sticking
out.

How would it be if you are exactly twenty and it is compared
with
Aphex Twin? The criticisms on Chris Clark debuut Clarence
park were eulogistic and
the comparison with o.a. the treacherous falcon owls
(-ambient) of Richard d. James had been made fast. Vanavond
it is also één large falcon owl. Clear

..... FINALLY

Clear showing levels the way rather for stocking acid,
elektro and even unwarped gabber without becoming plat. This
is energy. ' neat Lofi ' cause instant dans-frenzy. The
structure of the numbers remains audible. The room has been
flowed after plaid half and has more space has been
ensured. Those are also well used. With its last two work:
the Ceramics are the Bomb EP and the album Empty the Bones
or You is
Chris Clark more ' own ' gone has stocked and shows he is
unprecedented sonische skill and creativity. Music which
best sounds on the ear-phone but will sit. He has been
concentrated and is visible glad with applause which falls
to him. The Warp Dj's (+ Jimmy Edgar) finishes the evening.

NB: On plaid all concerts/dj-sets later vandaag online
komen!

ah thanks

first part

Back in ‘87, steve beckett and rob mitchell opened their
independent recordstore Warp Records in sheffield. While
Rick Astley was Top of the Pops and fluorescent clothes
where the thing, Warp Records was based on electronica from
North - America after acid house was born. Inspired by early
sucesses from the english 808 State they founded the
recordlabel Warp Records in 1989 to give young upcoming
artists some space. Electronic music that flies straight
over the dancefloor, and is impossible to describe as one
‘genre’. Big names from the (breathtaking) line up:
Aphex Twin, Autechre, LFO, Plaid, Nightmares on Wax,
Squarepusher and Boards of Canada. This saturday, Warp
Records tear apart Paradiso.

Jimmy Edgar, 20 years young, is from Detroit. He grew up on
80's hip hop, jazz percussion and experimental electronics
ala stockhausen. This year, with the release of ‘Access
Rhythm’, his first full EP featuring out-of-the-box hiphop
beats sees the light on the Warp label. This night, Edgar
approaches the audience from a different angle, slowly
turning towards the audience in an egg-shaped lounge chair
taken from Paradiso’s basement. Loud-as-hell drum n bass
coming from the laptop drowns the audience in noise, and
near the end of his set he goes apeshitz, blasting terror
beats and making some of the people in the room feel
slightly uncomfortable...

Next is Beans, who has inspired and collaborated with
Miss(y) Kittin en Elliot, Radiohead, Prefuse 73, Dj Shadow
and Andy Wheaterall. Beans (aka Mr. Ballbeam) earned his
fame as a member of the Anti Pop Consortium. His mic skills
are awesome, but making sense of the poet’s lyrics isnt
the easiest thing. His beats are quite monotonous, making us
wonder what happened to his electro-dubby stuff. Jimmy Edgar
was heavy, but this is quite a let-down

Warp DJ’s Tom P, Ned and Phil are the main part of this
night, playing between the other acts and refreshing the
audience with grumbling electro, some reggae loops,
breakbeats and of course windowlicker

Upstairs is Bart Skils, who isnt on the warp imprint but
equally talented, playing minimal german stuff for those who
want to slow down from warp-speed

Ed Hanley & Andy Turner have been up and running from the
early 90's, recording under aliases as The Black Dog (with
Ken Downie), Balil, Atypic and Close Up Over. Deep space
electronics, where melodies are omnipresent. Its like flying
near the borders of the universe with a load of fresh
breakbeats in your trunk. Jazzy syncopic rythms with
basslines that can be felt all along the set. Their last
effort, spokes, isnt as heavy as their earlier stuff, but
that doesnt make it a weak album! Slowly progressing
underwater melodies backed by really fresh beats (‘cedar
city’ is like scuba diving into a cathedral) The
soundsystem has been turned up to leftfield levels while
micheal jackson, prince and grace jones walk the video
screen. The robot in front of Ed and Andy comes to life near
the end, turning and twisting and recording the faces and
fingers of the two. The people love it and give them a
standing ovation. Stanley Kubrick (with earplugs) would have
loved it.

What would it be like to be 20 and getting your music
compaired to Aphex Twin? Chris Clarks debut ‘Clarence
Park’ got some dazzling reviews and the comparison to, for
instance, the hidden ambient traps by RDJ has been made over
and over.
This night is one big trap too, clear tones pave the way for
acid hits, electro and old fashioned gabba, without getting
to feel flat. This is pure energy people! ‘Proper lo-fi’
makes the crowd dance like theres no tomorrow, and the space
created by guests leaving after plaid playing is put to good
use. He looks concentrated, and seems very pleased by the
applause the crowd gives him.

thats it, i think i sucked but its better than the free
translation thing
