IDM Merchandise

If e.g. aphex, autechre, or BOC would license lots of
different merchandise (other than music / video, e.g.
clothing) would you feel like they were 'selling out'?

This would not mean that they changed their music in any
way, but simply that they agree on releasing merchandise for
their fans to buy.

Would this be a good or bad thing? It has nothing to do with
the music - it will stay the same / develop like it would
without the merchandise.

something to decorate myself.

Some aphex acid would be nice but an aphex letter opener
would be cool also .
I wouldnt think of them as selling out just cashing in ,
idm artists (with a few exeptions )
dont get much cash for there hard graft .

here's a painting called "Plaid".

http://www.evanizer.com/artwork/pages/plaid.html

I'm not sure if it's related to the music of Plaid though (I
actually think not)

I think The Gasman would fall within the "IDM" "genre". No?

What else would you mean by 'IDM merchandise'?

Anyway, maybe I'd use the spray on some dickhead who's
walking about in an Autechre beenie or something.

Here is Mazeroski with his aphex-cap.

Yeah, well, I'd spray that cunt too... but he's holding a
bat.

The Gasman released his debut album, 'Remedial', on Planet
MU last year. And it's pretty good.

when I get my shit together, get a bit of money, I'm gonna
print off a fuckload of autechre shirts (getting the
"template" done is the expensive part, the shirts themselves
to print on are like 3 bucks ewach,.. so it's in my interest
to go nuts and get a shitload)

I'm pretty infamous for taking forever to do stuff though

it's a thingy you put on your guitar neck to make the
strings shorter, so it's actually like having a smaller
guitar

offline Drunken Mastah from OPPERKLASSESVIN!!! (Norway) on 2004-04-19 07:59 [#01149880]

it doesn't really make the strings shorter.. or.. it does
that too, but that is not the only effect.

it transposes the guitar. just like when playing "slide,"
only this thing mostly stays put.

obviously shortning the string make them sound higher (if
you dont loosen them aswell) you have sort of strap on
thingies that do the job better, i believe, i find capo's to
work pretty crappy.
you can also use a whammy pedal but that's diffenent
altogether

offline Drunken Mastah from OPPERKLASSESVIN!!! (Norway) on 2004-04-19 08:06 [#01149892]

the strap-on thingies are also called capos.

but still.. i preferr using slide, 'cause if you tune the
guitar in Dm, and use a slid, you can NEVER go wrong (plus
the starting point is variable!)
