whether you make your art on the computer or by hand (and
have access to a scanner or digital camera), i'm very
interested in assembling your art along with the art of
other people for the next "PHUX" pack. phux is the artists
coalition i've run since 1997 or 1998. it has been dormant
for a long time now but over december and january i hope to
get the web site up to speed and put out some brand new art,
from artists old and new to the group.

http://phux.conniption.org (update coming eventually)

contact me here or by email if you're interested in showing
people your art..

i would like to add some of my art

email whatever you'd like to submit to
titsworth@graffiti.net

there are no guidelines as to what's put on the site (and
zipped up art packs), just so long as it's an original piece

Is twisting original images out of shape okay? Because I
stole something from Windows and manipulated it into my own
style.

why are you afraid of this? do you think titsworth would try
to steal your artwork or something?

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-11-15 17:52 [#00443805]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker

neetta, why afraid? to tell you the truth, the thread you
made recently about your art is what reminded me to ask
people here if they're interested. i hadn't brought it up in
several months.

ms paint is perfectly fine. i did my stuff with paintbrush
until 1998 (when i started using an out of date paint shop
pro). distorted version of pre-existng pictures is fine too;
that's how most of my art starts (pictures being warped way
out of recognition, or collages borrowing from several other
images).

yes, and remember to put this thread up again for a few days
!
how many drawings should we send to you?
is there a limit?

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-11-15 18:55 [#00443864]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker

there's no limit to what you can draw, how you draw it, or
how much you send.. i organize the art of PHUX but i let
people do pretty much whatever they like. if anyone's
interested in participating, just follow glass_eater's lead
and email me some art you would like to share with a wider
audience..

in case anyone's wondering, PHUX is a very amateur group,
there's no copyrights or commercial use. it's just something
i've done for fun these last few years. the artist can reuse
art he or she already published, and they still "own" their
art after they send it to me.. the web site and .zip packs
are kind of like a "gallery."

Points: 1769 Status: Regular | Followup to titsworth: #00443864

will you need the titles or anything like that? how do these
galleries work, or are they really just a collection of
random images thrown into a .zip file?

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-11-15 19:30 [#00443877]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker

no problem glass man..

bile, usually i just assume the title is in the file name.
when people submit things like "pic1" or "phux" i'll ask
them what they want me to call it (every once in a while i
get an "i don't care" and i name it something silly, but
whenever possible, the artist chooses).

for many years there was no web site and i'd distribute the
pics in zip files that contained all of that pack's art (a
pack used to come out every few months, but they've been
pretty infrequent since 2000) as well as a TXT file i'd
write about what's new with the group and info on each pic.
when i had a web site (the one linked above i just put up
recently; there used to be a bigger one.. the story of what
happened can be read on the current site) i would put things
up in gallery form. basically every pack/release had its own
page and people can browse by thumbnail graphics and when
they want to see the full picture they click on the smaller
one. it's organized alphabetically by the artist's name, so
people like Alter Ego, ambersunshower, and even BILE would
be at the top of the page.

sweet. well i'll putting together the photos i want to add
into this zip file i'll send to you, and probably include a
text file of each one's full title or something... i tend to
be lazy, so it'll probably be there tomorrow sometime (in
your e-mail that is)

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-11-15 19:39 [#00443888]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker

sure, take your time.. there's no guaruntee anything will be
released or put on the web site next month, as i need to get
in touch with some of my friends i went to high school with
to see if they're willing to get involved with this again,
plus try to email some old artists i knew from irc to see if
they have anything new.

not to get ahead of myself here, but in addition to art,
someday i'd like to integrate writing into the site. this
includes essays on different topics, short stories, poems,
and interviews. i have a couple interviews w/ idm artists
(including one on warp!) i could do right now but besides
neither him nor i having much time at the moment (haven't
seen him online in weeks), i don't have a good outlet for
the interview. i don't write for any outside web sites and
my college doesn't know anything about idm so it'd be
pointless to put the interview in the newspaper here.. so
i'm just going to wait till i develop some kind of writing
section for phux

aww sorry neetta... well i dunno what to tell you. i've been
doing this since 1997 or so, it's not a new idea. i'd be
honored to have you contribute. there's no exclusivity
involved whatsoever. your art is still YOUR ART and you're
free to do whatever you like with it.

KOOL!
You told me about this a few months ago.
I would very much like to send you some pics of charcoal
drawings, but they don't fit in my scanner ..
I'll try to make some nice pics with a digital camera, but
it might take a while, cos I don't really have time now, and
they're not here.
Is there a date when you have to get them all, or can you
update the site ?

R.I.P. Jam Master Jay!

supreme: there is no deadline whatsoever. unfortunately,
outside of this MB, the artists i know don't care too much
about making new art. so, email me whenever you have photos
of your art! :)

diablo: care to get involved? it's a lot of fun, really..

excellent! loved the picture and looking forward to more.
warping pictures is a lot of fun.

so sorry to hear about your hard drive crash though. i lost
all the art i made between 94-97, and about 1/3 of the art i
made between 97-00 :( i hope you're able to recover more of
your art. just ask people. i was able to recover a good deal
of my recent-ish art (from '00) after i got my hard drive
back.

he he! (thanx!) good point. Its because i'm paranoid about
getting copied. Seriously some of these did get copied
(which is ironic since some of the images are "sampled" from

I will do it though ure right they need to be seen better.
